He did not fail a medical for you, he passed it. He did not sign for you because you tried to change the terms of his contract after previously agreeing them so he signed for us instead.

Wow not a lot going on on the Newcastle boards then lads?

Seem the press disagreed with you though... Press rumours at time were he failed cos his groin was dodgie and surprise surprise 4 months on he's having surgery on his... Groin...

But even if they're wrong he's not really set the world alight since joining you has he?

As usual the press are wrong.

Liverpool medical chief Dr Peter Brukner says Sylvain Marveaux did not fail his medical last week.

Newcastle United swooped in for the former Rennes winger after Liverpool pulled the plug on talks over fitness concerns.

Brukner, speaking on Melbourne radio, confirmed Marveaux's comments that he did not fail his medical with the Reds.

Newcastle No2 John Carver has also rubbished claims of concerns over the midfielder's long-term fitness.

Sylvain Marveaux said:
Frankly, those rumours aren’t anything.

“I am perfectly fit, and capable of playing again.

“I resumed individual training sessions at Rennes late last season and I could have played the last match.

“I am a little disgusted to read rumours like that because it could affect the rest of my career.”

Sylvain Marveaux said:
Indeed, I was very close to joining Liverpool. People knew I was a free agent and I didn't want to extend at Rennes. "In January, Newcastle were the very first to contact me. Then, there was Liverpool, and I gave them my consent.

"But I never stated it was already done with the Reds.

"Then, last Thursday and Friday, there were some changes and I made the decision to sign at Newcastle.

"The medical at Liverpool went off smoothly, I am fit to play and perfectly healthy. Actually, things already established had to be negotiated again.

"So I decided to change my mind and sign with Newcastle, who never gave up. It was not a second choice.

"That club has big impact in England, with a wonderful stadium and amazing fans. The club also has a lot of ambition.

And he has actually looked very promising for us.

Hmm i just wonder why Liverpool would change the terms of his contract... oh it maybe it was due to fears over his fitness!

Remember the Geordies celebrating this as if they had gotten one over us in the summer. That was only slightly less short-lived than their current form will be.

Maybe Marv jus didnt fany being 'Fisted' by Reina before every game like he's just admited to doing with Carra before every game on Soccer AM...may explain Carras form a the moment haha!! Bumders!!

Ps...Marv was a freebie on minimal wages (no risk) - thanks for the £35m for Shirley..he looks...er...great <cough>!

There's passing and there is passing. After the medical we did not proceede with the contract that speaks far more than he achieved the minimum pass rate.

Don't be daft.

He passed the medical , you changed terms after you had agreed a deal prior to that and he decided to join us.

Yea he's injured for a few months but we signed him on a 5 year deal not a 3 months deal. And he was a freebie as well.

He's a classy player and he's really impressed me so far <ok>
