Our 4th ground actually <laugh>

1) Boulevard
2) Dairycoates
3) Circle Cricket Ground
4) Anlaby Rd as per your image

Access was non existent, hemmed in on all sides, on leased land from the NER.

Pitch was a gluepot too.

I thought this was actually our second, but I didn't include the Boulevard as we only played friendlies there as far as I was aware.

Wasn't the capacity only 18000 and the stands wooden? - hardly the KC or for that matter BP - nostalgic all the same..

There used to be a bit of concrete wall to old ground left standing - had admission price on it - not sure if its still there - close to loop railway line and near where that guy sh*gged that goat!!

Record attendance was 32,000 for a cup game against Newcastle United. Which is larger than the record crowds for either the Boulevard or Craven Park.

That's the one.

You canz see partially exposed terrace steps on the other side of that embankment.

Now that has been unearthed our odds with William Hill have plummeted.
Where was the access to the circle before the railway flyover.Am I right in think Anlaby Road had the same course before the flyover

More or less yeah, flyover is a bit further to the north than the old road.

Someone told me some of the banking for the terracing is still visual today...Though I have not looked I do wonder if its bullshit.

This aerial shot might give a better idea of how it fits in...

That's a great photo . When was the old part of Hull Royal built ( the old red brick building adjacent to the flyover)?

I thought that might be on this photo.

The large oblong building in the bottom right corner is the East Yorkshire bus garage, I didn't think it was that old.

Houghton block was built 1914. Think it would just be off the right edge of the pic.

Here's the KC overlaid on an image of the old grounds...

I took some photos of what is left of the old ground the other month. There is still some terracing clearly visible and the back of the north stand there. Worth a wander and look before a match.

Yeah, its there. When you go up the steps towards the walkway just take a right off onto the grass, down the slop and you'll see the back of the stand. Have a climb up and the terracing is there.

Why is it always the bloke that gets the blame. Maybe the goat led him on. You know, fluttering its eyes at him, wearing short skirts, that sort of thing.

Better shagging goats than shagging kids (see what I did there?).

Paradise Allotments <laugh>
