Could be more to do with the capability of the cameras in those days. An interesting clip nevertheless as far as our history is concerned.
The clip shown is not the Notts County match as that clip is from 1905 and the friendly against Notts County was in August/ September 1904. Also I have seen a programme from that game played at the Boulevard and City played in white shirts.
Their first competitive match(FA Cup) was played at the Boulevard in mid-September 1904. My granddad went but I have never seen a programme. We drew 3-3 and lost the replay 4-1 to Stockton.
It says it was from the 1904/05 season in the bit underneath.the fact the programme shows them in white shirts is irrelevant. The programme for the first game at Boothferry Park shows City in blue and orange shirts with a badge of three crowns, a kit they never actually used.
I attended that first match at Boothferry Park and had the programme for years. While I don't claim to remember what was in the programme I know that there was controversy and challenges about the colour and design of the shirt until very close to that opening game. Hence a depiction in the programme of a different kit to what was actually worn is totally feasible.
Until disproved I maintain that City played that first match against Notts County in White shirts, the 1904 programme was correct in regard to their kit and the match in the clip was from 1905.
If you read underneath the clip it says it was the 1904/5 season. So one of your assertions isn't correct.
By the time we played in the league we weren't playing at the Boulevard. The question is, which other teams in black and white stripes did City play at the Boulevard? Don't think they played Newcastle and Grimsby didn't play in stripes then.
As for the first BP game, Harold Needler wanted to change the name to Kingston Upon Hull City AFC with a blue and orange shirt, white shorts and a badge with the three coronets. So Allam wasn't the first owner wanting to change the name. Though if Needler had been successful,how would Allam have proposed marketing the club?
Of course he could if it had happened shortened the name to Hull City AFC.
There was an outcry over the change and, unlike Allam, Needler listened and backed down. Owing to difficulties with dyes after the war I believe they played the first season in sky blue. They then switched to a plain amber shirt and black shorts. Whether this was because of kit manufacturing difficulties in those days, Needler not liking stripes or an Allamesque fit of pique at not getting his way I don't know.

Just dragged out the Bible (Chris Elton's book) and it would appear they did. Always assumed when they moved to Anlaby Road after the RL banned ground sharing that they stopped playing there. However City insisted on their contact from 1905 for 3 years being honoured and fielded a third team there and switched some games there when weather affected Anlaby Road before the building of their own stadium.
Seem to recall the reason for the RL being difficult was they were worried about the interest in football in a rugby league stronghold ( FC were contemplating scrapping their reserve side and fielding a football team) especially after Manningham, the first rugby league champions, switched codes and became Bradford City a couple of seasons earlier.
In your post No 23 you claimed that the kit depicted above was in the programme for the first match at Boothferry Park.
The first match at Boothferry Park was played on the 31st August 1946 and over half the season had been played before the friendly match against Fulham on 25th January 1947.
Is your claim still that the kit depicted was described in the programme for the first match against Lincoln City?
The clip states Hull City Football 1905 as its header and the text below a match from 1904-05 season. Hence assertion not disproved. I believe City played over 40 friendly matches in 1904-05 playing Hull matches predominantly at the Boulevard, with other venues Dairycoats and Anlaby Rd. I have seen a list of friendly matches played. Is that in your 'Bible'?

That programme cover was the one used for the Lincoln City game.
The fact that it says 1904/5 underneath means your assertion it was played in 1905 is not proved. Does your list of games show any other clubs which played in black and white stripes (as I said Grimsby didn't play in stripes then)?

However this page shows the programme for the game against Lincoln seeing you seem to be insinuating I am not correct. Though you obviously haven't thought why halfway through the season they would suddenly produce a programme with this kit on if they hadn't used it before. You can get one to remind you I am correct for just £125.

You have proved your point which could have been made by reproducing the link instead of the irrelevant Fulham programme. I had the Lincoln match programme in my hand on the 31st of August 1946 and had for many years later and it has now gone to programme heaven. I have your link-why would I need to spend anything to prove you are correct?
Insinuating you were not correct? No. I asked a question and you provided the answer.
I uploaded that photo as I had it on my iPad and thought it might be of interest to anyone wanting to see what the kit Needler proposed looked like as it was a better picture than the one on the link to programmes.I wasn't expecting someone to insinuate I was wrong, which was what you did by saying it was later than the Lincoln game and asking if I still maintained that was the kit shown on the Lincoln programme. That wording suggests you thought I was wrong.I did put on the top of my original post that it was the proposed kit and then asked aren't you glad Needler didn't get his way.
The only other club on the list which played that season having a the black and white strip was Derby County. Match was played on 13/10/04 with attendance of 6500.
If this is City, one of these should be my great grandad (rushton).
If I were on "who do you think you are", I'd be all tear-eyed for the cameras right now.
Rushton scored both goals in the first friendly against Notts County(2-2) followed by another 4 against Darlington about 3 weeks later(5-1). Scored 16 before the end of the year- quite a marksman!
Their historical football kit shows a black and white striped outfit for the season 1904-5, described as a 'Change Kit'.
But would they have changed it to stripes when playing against a team playing in black andcamber stripes.
BTW, a quiz question. Without googling, what did Notts County, the team in question and Preston, who we played yesterday, have a dispensation for which no one else had (though they don't take advantage of it?).
Another one, what do Blackburn Rovers have permission to do that other clubs haven't. Though in the recent PL days a couple of clubs have ignored this.
