His pace is good. He also had a terrific game against Barca. Apart from that - nothing special AT ALL about him. Don't make me name every single CB who is better than him

Nothing special? Well you clearly do not actually watch the player. If you did you will see that his one on one defending is top notch. He is also able to press forwards and not give them any time. He can clearly come out with the ball and pass it around and is ok in the air. But that is not his game. He is clearly a sweeper, and he is utter class at it. Last season was his frist in England he was outstanding against the top teams. The three games against Man Utd,Chelsea and Barca showed why he is so good. Anticipates things very quickly and is very hard to beat on the ground.

CC was a massive miscommunication between him and the GK. Newcastle game was going fine until Diaby got himself sent off. The game as a whole summed up the mentally the team built over a few years, to blame one player for that is wrong. You say those 3 games do not make him so good, yet you point to 2 examples which you say makes him 'bloody awful'.
