I have watched a fair few of the Women's World Cup games so far mostly because the general television is crap and not worth a glance. Something I have noticed and maybe it is just me imagining things but some of the Officials seem rather biased to one team and therefore generally against another. The use of VAR has been rubbish so far and a lot of the decisions using it have been less than 100%. The handball situations is one example of this. There have been a few given where the ball has bounced up and even though the rules have been changed the results have been harsh to say the least. However, Scotland were denied one for exactly that. The ball hit an opposition hand/arm and no VAR. It was clear yet still no VAR. A penalty was given yesterday for a foul that was outside the box. Even though VAR was consulted. Today the host nation, surprise surprise, were given a penalty for a foul by VAR. They missed it. So, just to be fair they gave it again because the foot of the Nigerian keeper was an inch off the line. To rub it in they sent the fouling player off for a second bookable offence. Talk about make sure the host gets through. In that Scotland match mentioned before they could not buy a decision no matter how blatant it was. In the end tonight I was willing the Nigerian players to kick seven bells of crap out of the French in the last 20 minutes just for spite. If the Ref is going to be biased then give her something to genuinely give and enjoy yourself at the same time.
