Day 8 of the Natsu Basho. The amazing Enho had to concede 207 pounds to his opponent. Can he keep this going or will they end up smashing him into the clay? And he's a novice in his first senior tournament. Amazing. 2:55 into the clip.
Vincent Kompany leaves Manchester City to become Anderlecht player-manager: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/48325845 Good and loyal player, and fine captain. Wish Vincent all the best and every success with Anderlecht!
For me, there's nothing like middle distance racing. I've waited all off season for these guys to return. And two of the big guys, Yomif Kejelcha and Seleman Berega turned up for the fun.
Day 10. The human bulldozer Tochinoshin looking to win back his Ozaki status needs two more wins. The big Georgian seems to have returned to his very best. And the Grand Master Kakuryu ( now one of only two Yokozuna in the sport ) takes on the throat pusher Abi in the final bout of the day.
F1 legend Niki Lauder has just passed away aged 70. The Austrian born Lauder was a three time World F1 Champion, winning the titles in 1975,77 & 84. He won 25 races and took 54 podiums with 24 poles. RIP.
Michael Norman cruises to a handy, early season time in Japan. Norman, Noah Lyles and Ronnie Baker are in for some serious clashes.
Nothing to do with the attire Ste. I discovered the sport a few years back and have become a real fan.I realise that they look overweight and useless, but they are real athletes. There's a little bloke just starting in the big league who has to concede anywhere up to 15 stone to some opponents. He has to be as agile as all **** just to survive. And to get from the bottom rank of the league to that of Grand Master is almost ****ing impossible. The two months between tournaments kills me.
Wow, day 14, the second last day of the Basho. A low ranked wrestler, Asanoyama gets a chance to win his first tournament in the big league. He would have been cricket score odds on day 1. The huge story though was the battle of the big Georgian Tochinoshin, who only has this tournament to reclaim the rank he lost last Basho. Should he fail to win one of his last two bouts, he may never get back to the lofty status of Ozeki, which is one rank below Yokozuna. (Grand Master) He had the win yesterday, but officialdom blew it with a shocking decision. Replays showed him winning. Today he comes up against the Grand Master against whom he's won just 3 of their 26 bouts. After losing the last three attempts in a row chasing that win, he meets the Yokozuna in the last bout of the day.
I think your mixing me up with someone else mate. Neither Sunderland or Charlton are my team Dan. I have a semi detached affection for Lincoln City courtesy of my Skeggy born old man but that's me done. I was a dirty Leeds fan as a kid but grew out of it and can honestly say I've no interest in them whatsoever. Love football but don't follow any team that closely, other than our National team anyway.
