York Road, Maidenhead - for 'The Card'[/QUOT
The film was indeed 'The card' , which was based on the novel by Arnold Bennett. Like all of Bennetts' novels the action is based on the 5 towns of the potteries. The film was almost entirely made in Burslem and features Port Vale. However, you were the closest - over to you.
You're hot and steamin' and you really want to get it on with your partner; only problem is it's 1984 and you just happen to be in the Republic of Ireland. Neither of you - despite extensive searches - have any contraceptive devices concealed about your person. In order to legally purchase same what conditions do you have to fulfil, and in what situation?
No exceptions were allowed under the law, although curiously enough the better off statistically had fewer children; priests didn't need them as they abstained at all times....Brilliant question! Does one of you have to be a priest?
More seriously perhaps one has to be HIV positive (1984 may be a little too early for that), or have some other communicable disease? A certificate saying you are not a Catholic?
That's called circumventing the law, providing of course you quenched your salacious ardour outside the jurisdictionaccess to a car and close proximity to the borderalthough a trip through bandit country should cool the ardour
You're a teacher and it is for educational purposes only!!!!!!!
Havent heard of that one bigbeach, more to do with what you had to do than what you were, if that makes sense...That's it, you had to be over 18, go see your doctor, convince him/her that your needs were for 'bona fide family planning purposes or adequate medical reasons', then go to your local pharmacy to have your prescription filled. You had to get a prescription...
