Bravissimo. Its a 20 minute walk to the stadium, but a few bars on the way. I usually took the tram though. stops right outside and a good Milanistas bar in the piazza. Fire away Cologne....
Another one on football stadiums. Which old English football stadium comes into a film starring Alec Guinness ?
Leyton Orient? Edit.... or it could have been the Valley at Charlton, i remember that being in an old black & white film
A couple of clues: The film comes from the early 50s and is based on a short novel written about the end of the 19th century.
The Arsenal Stadium Mystery is a 1939 British mystery film, and is one of the first feature films where football is a central element in the plot. The film is a murder mystery set, as the title suggests, at the Arsenal Stadium, Highbury, London, then the home of Arsenal Football Club, who were at the time the dominant team in English football. The backdrop is a friendly match between Arsenal and The Trojans, a fictitious amateur side; one of the Trojans' players drops dead during the match, and when it is revealed he has been poisoned, suspicion falls on his teammates as well as his former mistress. Detective Inspector Slade (Leslie Banks) is called in to solve the crime. Great film but no Alec Guinness
You're hot and steamin' and you really want to get it on with your partner; only problem is it's 1984 and you just happen to be in the Republic of Ireland. Neither of you - despite extensive searches - have any contraceptive devices concealed about your person. In order to legally purchase same what conditions do you have to fulfil, and in what situation?
Brilliant question! Does one of you have to be a priest? More seriously perhaps one has to be HIV positive (1984 may be a little too early for that), or have some other communicable disease? A certificate saying you are not a Catholic?
access to a car and close proximity to the border although a trip through bandit country should cool the ardour
No exceptions were allowed under the law, although curiously enough the better off statistically had fewer children; priests didn't need them as they abstained at all times....
That's called circumventing the law, providing of course you quenched your salacious ardour outside the jurisdiction
Havent heard of that one bigbeach, more to do with what you had to do than what you were, if that makes sense...
That's it, you had to be over 18, go see your doctor, convince him/her that your needs were for 'bona fide family planning purposes or adequate medical reasons', then go to your local pharmacy to have your prescription filled. Over to you...
