Persian?...
Name please of this true AMATEUR sportsman:
He was a quadruple 'Cambridge Blue', he scored a century at Lords for the Public Schools XI v MCC, he was a scratch golfer, he scored a 147 break at snooker, he won a Wimbledon doubles title, he won gold and silver medals in the 1920 Olympics in the Mens Doubles and Mixed Doubles, he captained Man City playing at centre-half and captained the Full England team as an amateur.
He was so idolised after the 1920 Olympics he was invited to Charlie Chaplin's Hollywood mansion where he thrashed the film star at tennis and was then challenged by Chaplin to a table tennis match, he then thrashed Chaplin using a butter knife instead of a bat and when he got fed up with Chaplin's moaning picked the star up and threw him in his own swimming pool. Who was he?...
Outstanding Sooper, I would never have got this one, the Persian Empire c 480BC had 50 million people in it, 44% of the world's population at the time. Took me a few minutes to figure out, but of course population density was hugely focused in the Middle East/ Tigris /Euphrates and northern India at the time, which were all in the Empire.
I think it is contentious because the Macedonian Empire under Alexander 150 years later covered all of this area and more, albeit briefly, but the otherwise excellent wiki page on this doesn't give the figures.
Over to you Sooper.
Bit of useless info, I've actually just driven down, or up Avenida Juan Sebastian Elcano in Malaga! He was the captain at the beginning of the trip and his name is forever associated with it, but he died in the Philippines, didn't complte the circumnavigation. So who took over?
Assuming I am right...and I have to get of to work ....so an easy (girly) one...what links Greg, Peter Bobby with Marcia, Jan and Cindy
Correct 999s....how did last night go...????

Really? I put the Brady Bunch down as a joke, never having seen the show I was just offering a joke guess.
Last night went really well thanks. We're attracting more people every time we do it.
Thank you for your material. It was very well received.
Which opera features the 'Humming Chorus'?
