Very close.
Paisley, Clough and ***an are right but it wasn't Saunders (that's what I went for).

I think he left Villa a bit before the EC final, but for the life of me I can’t remember who took over, and I’m pretty sure whoever it was disappeared without a trace afterwards.Very close.

Cheers Stroller. Two trees in my garden apparently possess the hardest, most dense, wood found amongst plants native to Europe. The wood actually sinks in water, which is very unusual. What trees are they ?Yes he was.
Joey ****ing Barton’s dad Tony out on parole presumably.Almost correct enough for a thumbs up, but I'm going to need a name.
Hint: Namesake of one your least favourite players.

Oak is heavy but not the heaviest. One clue is that it's name is similar to that of a famous university. Also a flowering tree (one of the earliest - in February). Not cork or balsa, I'd wager.
Oak is heavy isn't it? You're doing well if you have two oak trees in your garden, though.

That’s it for my European tree knowledge
Except all the fruit trees of course....
It is actually a fruit tree ! But a wild fruit, and related to one of those on your list (or belonging to the same family). A tree much valued by wild bees, because of the early blooming. The fruit is tasty but not often used (we use it for Likör) - the wood was highly valued in ancient times for the making of spears, arrows and tools. Not Crab apple. One of the trees on your list is actually a family, with two Genera, and this is one of the species arising from those. If you think about the name of one famous university it will help.Crab apple

I'll give you that Strolls. It is the Cornel Cherry (Cornus Mas) - which is native to Southern and Central Europe, but not Britain - which I had forgotten when setting the question. The density is the hardest of all European woods, and was use for lance shafts in the middle ages for that reason. Over to you. It's cornel then.
