Been thinking... Have any of you chaps met anyone really famous and how did you react?

I was once having lunch at Spago's in Beverley Hills and next to me we're sat Sidney Poitier and Nicholas Cage. I just froze and couldn't concentrate on my salad (proper starstruk). Cage heard my accent though and asked if I was Scottish!!

And what did he do after he picked himself up?

Lulu once spoke to me, could hardly understand a word she said.

Richard Branson spoke to me, before he made it to the top. James Hunt spoke to me in the same place as Richard Branson and then later on in my local.

And Frank Skinner spoke to me before he was famous quite close to where RB and JH had.

Slim Whitman the old Country and Western singer spoke to me in London once and Paul McCartney spoke to me in a Night Club in Newcastle.

Spoken to several footballer's over the years, including Wor Jackie, Super Mac, Wyn Davies, and many more of our heroes of yesteryear. Was at a party in London that Gerry Francis and Stan Bowles were at and often saw Stan Bowles in a betting shop near where I worked. He was a really quiet guy and had nothing flash about him, not at all the way some people seemed to see him.

Wow.. Wor Jackie... What a legend

My nan once let a young squaddie called Stanley Matthews use her bath tub...

Another great player and great guy from another era. The wizard of dribble and a 100% dedicated footballer. A real gent on and off the pitch and very modest. There's not many of them about these days. We're quite lucky that most of our's seem decent types.

I was thinking that today. We've had our fair share of bling merchants so its refreshing to see us looking at other elements of a player
