Following on from comments made in another thread, out of interest how many of us were part of the QPR board on BBC606?

If you were a BBC type:

  • were you part of Northolt's first wave of Not606ers in March / April 2011?
  • are you still using your original moniker or have you changed it - and if so why?
  • what are your memories?
  • which of the two sites was better and/or not so good (between 606 and this site)?

If you weren't on BBC606, why - and what brought you on here?

Yep I was WBA2_QPR3 there and here and made the move as part of northolts recruitment drive in early 2011

I liked 606 apart from the delay between posting and the constant random mod interference

There were some great characters - who could ever forget Walk53's football matches against other 606 sides? Also lots of good banter with the likes of Eagle Tom - I remember shefford being banned from the Crystal Paralysis board after our last gasp 1 nil helgusson inspired victory

I found that you could still get into 606 after they stopped the obvious link and stayed until June/July time.

I think it was one of Northy's "Come and join us" posts that brought me over.

Only posted a couple of times and went by the equally creative moniker of Matt QPR (I think).

Just the thought of Smeagle_tom has made me want palace to lose the play-offs, thought it might be best to avoid another two derbies next year. Although Palace away is always a good day out.

I was part of the March/April party, although really didn't post much on the 606 forum. I was checking up on something a few weeks back and was very surprised to see a comment I made at the time shown on one of the news pages.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/q/qpr/9370468.stm

The thread accessible from that page , if you click on it, is very ordinary, but look at some of the contributors, some we still know and love, others have disappeared into the cyber-mist.

I use the same username as before, I could never be bothered to think of another.

I struggle to remember what I was doing yesterday, I've no recollection of posting there although I'm sure the mods were far better in those days.......

Yep I was rrrrrs back then. Used to enjoy walks footy matches & ABITB's ridiculous statements. Clearly had never been to a game.

northy told me about this site on twitter. even though he's not here anymore I still tweet him every now and then.

Yes ABITB / Ghost of old bushy were funny / annoying

I forgot it used to close at 11pm or something equally daft

I was never on the BBC 606, because I didn't know it, or any QPR messageboards, existed. Stumbled across this one and it made me laugh, especially Swords, DT, Uber and Carlos, so I joined in. Now I'd say there is a really good mix of posters on here, and we have in a kind of creepy way got to know each other, so its comfy. Plus, sometimes, there are some truly outstanding threads, such as Staines' urge for us to look after ourselves after his health scare, and the one after Thatcher's death which against all odds remained civil and interesting for a long time. I rarely look at other teams boards on here, and never look at other QPR boards, blogs, twitter or facebook. I am trying to control my obsession.

Only thing I regret is not sticking to my original choice of user name - Hilary Briss.

I'm one of the original BBC site posters that migrated over.

I miss Walk56 I think his name was - totally mad postie who claimed to hail from Leicester and look like Phil Babb!

Bit of a late joiner from the old 606, where I stayed til the bitter end. I finally joined this place in October 2011 after being persuaded by Northy's clarion call that this was where to be.

To be honest I was even less of a prolific contributor on there then I am here, back then I went under the moniker KuooPeeArrr.

I eventually got used to how this site worked, but it wasn't really until I got the phone App that it really came alive for me and I started to check it so regularly. I do miss the inter-club banter of the old site, but overall this place is way better.

What I miss most from both sites though is Northy's contributions and news feeds. Having said that, I don't think that we're doing so badly here at all. A good bunch of characters here, none of whom I've ever met but many who I feel I've known for years!

Yeah I was there..... same name...only changed to Not at the last minute....June?
It was a stale boring site...this is so much more fun
thank you Northy
