Ever come across any? I've only recently stumbled into this phenomenon. Gotta say, I think it's really odd. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-24939873 http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/oct/01/my-little-pony-bronies-rebels I came across them by stumbling into this thread: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/forum/threadview/2955065220668070572/ I don't understand any of what they're saying :/ http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=bronies
never come across it before, but there is a lot of weird **** now days, we just accept it now where as in the past we put it down to madness and had them sectioned lol. balloon fetishes, men who dress up as babies and like to be mothered and put in nappies, you name it, it probably happens in some form now days.
this is odd... very odd. a new subspecies? a genetic mutation that is short lived? One can only hope. In the 60s they had national service to deal with these kinds of guys. I have heard it said that a good war would thin the ranks... sometimes i think it even makes sense.
According to a psychology study done on bronies - " the average profile of a brony is a 21-year-old male student who is heterosexual and single. Compared to non-bronies, bronies are more introverted, agreeable and tend to get “lost” in experiences–like a My Little Pony subculture, for instance!" So I guess out of us, only Enricky fits the profile .... well, almost.
I watch My Little Pony all the time (I have young children and a netflix account set up for the US catalogue) and while I wouldn't consider myself a Brony, I would say it is far better than most other cartoons aimed at children (this is when you look at aspects like the writing, animation & stories) If you watch it you'll notice little nods to the adults as well as the children. Reddit seem to house quite a few bronies although I don't subscribe to r/bronies so I guess I'm ok
Wasn't it the big thing for students to like Teletubbies when they came out? I think it's meant to be a post-ironic, ironic sort of thing with a dash of irony thrown in. Either that or students have just got too much time on their hands.
I enjoy in the night garden which is pretty trippy Only enjoy it mostly though as young daughter gets really excited at it
No, I think it's way more serious than that. There are huge fanboy threads on My Little Pony on normal forums and bloody conventions. I can't see why people are so obsesses with a cartoon for little girls that has morals in it, most kids Tv has bloody basic morals in it, surely adults have learnt these basic skills/morals by now?
Is this akin to getting a really ****ty tattoo when young and it seems like a good idea at the time. I can't imagine middle aged blokes looking back at their my little pony collection and not feeling foolish. I'm all for good messages in children's tv and media in general but some people take things too far. As much as I love the 'pool, I would never get a tat of the liver bird, never mind a great big pink cartoon horse.
It's ****ing crazy. Been one of my favourite sub-cultures to laugh at for a few years now.
