"If Mittal's out of the picture by start of season, will you be happy to support Ecclestone's 'vision' for the future?" I don't know what Ecclestone's vision is TBH. I do know that I will support my club come what may which some seem to be coming close to not doing over this battle. Would we be having this conversation if the Mittal's had never come on board?
QPAAAAAGH: Responses to your points. I don't know what Ecclestone's vision is TBH. Have a look at the thread, 'Clearer Visions for QPR' together with Amit Bhatia's resignation letter and Ecclestion's 'official' response statement on the club's website, and make your own mind up. I do know that I will support my club come what may which some seem to be coming close to not doing over this battle. From what I see, hear and well know from experience, there's not the slightest chance that committed football fans will change their allegiances over this or any other issue. It's probably true that some fans who were able to get to matches last season might not turn up so much this season - but that will have far more to do with ticket prices than politrix or protest. The action we propose actually encourages attendance. No point wearing green and white scarves and flying Indian flags if you're not in the ground in front of the cameras! Would we be having this conversation if the Mittal's had never come on board? Who knows? Briatore wasn't doing us many favours was he? Loads of managers, improbable random Italian players, loanees and staring at relegation... AND Mittal was invited in by Ecclestone and Briatore, presumably to share in the pickings. It just so happened that Mittal was represented by a couple of highly educated young idealists who were committed to stability and rebuilding the foundations (QPR in the community, consulting fans' organisations and the like). This included bringing a proper manager in who would not accept interference from non-pros like Briatore. Mittal supported this work as part of a longer term profitable plan, could see Ecclestone wasn't interested in the development path and needed to buy him out to keep things working as they were last season.
As Otis Redding once sublimely sang 'Action Speaks Louder Than Words and I'm The Man On The Scene' ... 4 5ftx3ft and 10 Mini Indian flags on a stick just secured! A geezer from High Wycombe based Patricia's Flags Ltd (020 8568 9697) just delivered them to my W12 door 'cos he was in London on business. I shall shortly be going to a King Street W6 bespoke t-shirt printers Servicepoint (020 8741 0222) and have a word with my man Steve to see what cash deal he can offer me on printing various 'We R QPR','Hello Lakshmi,Goodbye Bernie','Come Back Amit & Ishan' etcetera messages printed on them.I then hope to knock 'em out at Bodmin (18th July) or Plymouth(20th July) at a price to recover my costs (around a fiver).
Wow, that's was I call ACTION Hoopsy. Well impressed. Best of luck with the enterprize... if you make enough, any chance of you buying thed Goons out... be great to have a real Ranger in charge!!
I am no fan of Briatore, or Ecclestone but why does everyone go on about Mittal as though he is a saint? He didn't become one of the World's richest men men by being a nice guy. Just look at the 90+ deaths caused by shoddy safety regs in a Kazakhstani mine that he owns. Look at the £60M clean up bil he left Ireland after asset stripping the Steelworks in Cork and then throwing 400 people out of work and leaving behind a polluted site. Add a few questions about how he aquired steel interests in Poland and Tony Blair's links to his gain of the steel interests in Romania, amongst other things, and you actually see someone who makes Flav look clean!
Roller, you're a marvel. Great job mate! Promise to try to agree with you even more often even though like North, Watford, Swords and others you're still unrepable...
end of the day see wot pans out in the prem b4 we all start calling 4 the boards head! ok they made a mess in the championsip 2009/2010 season but we havnt evn played 1 game game yet or seen who we will be signing and we r calling 4 bernie n flavios head. after watchin year afta year of relegation football we all kno these guys did save us from goin under let alone promotion.
Well the petiton has harvested 313 names to date. I can't see many more coming through. Thanks to all those who signed up. I think the focus should now swap to the "protest" day, assuming that nothing much changes between now and the start of the season. Get your green and white scarves and Indian flags ready..... I am struggling to understand the no voters to the second poll though. We still have had no one explain why they voted no. I've no problem with anyone disagreeing, but would love to know why.
Whilst no fan at all of flav & the midget I voted no to the poll. Our colours are blue and White hoops and whilst green may be part of our history it has no relevance now. I would also suggest seeing how the summer pans out in terms of player signings as no-ones really making moves yet as most players are on holiday. I also think there will be some sort of climbdown on ticket prices. Having secured promotion we need to support the club at this time and not destabilise matters further until we see which players line up for the first match. None of the above makes me less of a QPR supporter but I would prefer to see this run further before passing judgement. One thing I do know is that the deadly duo love making money so cannot see them jeopardising that through lack of investment and possible relegation. Up the R's!
The same could be said of Man U’s green and gold. The green and white symbolises the heritage of the club which is being ridden roughshod over, by the Goons. I agree about the transfers, and have been calling for patience on this forum. I also feel the most of players people are getting up tight over aren’t going to improve the existing squad anyway. I disagree about the ticket prices though, I can’t see them changing now. I’m sure that most will re-new their season tickets, and I know that I will go along when I can. Personally I feel that by trying to make a stand, we are supporting the club. It is the current regime that are the issue, not the club or the team. You may think they are inseparable, I bloody hope they are not. Couldn’t agree more! Glad to see you jumped this way after the closure of 606. As for passing judgement, we know that we are all making assumptions, but they are based on what we have read and heard. I tried that argument. Their lack of football knowledge is what really goes against it. The statement that we will be keeping our best players was frightening. That will not be enough, but the implication is that they think it will be. Warnock will, of course, be hammering home the point with them, when he can get a meeting! As one of the many football clichés says, “Football is a game of opinions”. I'm sure you will receive some more which will be phrased better than mine!
It's never been straight forward supporting the R's that's part of our fatalistic view of life. If I wanted stability and success I would have been an arsenal fan. But I'm not. We are blue and White not green. Remember that owners come and go but 'we' the fanbase are the true guardians and owners of our club. Let whatever is going to happen happen. Now when is that fixture list issued?
