This lad is just so good for this club, on and off the pitch. For a lad from Hemel Hempstead he really has taken to our club and goes above and beyond to help people out. <applause>

Ill admit i dont think ive ever been more wrong with a player than i have with Luke this season. I always liked the lad and thought he was a very good L1 player but i doubted he could step up to championship level. Wow i was wrong, the lad has only really had a few poor games and the rest have been 7 out of 10 as a minimum.

I have him on LinkedIn and hes very big on the mental side of the game, its great to have a player like that in the dressing room. Hes had knock backs and plenty of doubts in his career but he continues to get better n stronger mentally thats the type of player i want at the club.

I love this lad now and he is exactly the type of player i want representing the club i love

I was chatting to a mutual acquaintance of mine and Luke’s a couple of weeks ago and he was saying that Luke absolutely loves it at Sunderland and as far as he’s concerned would spend the rest of his career with us. His words were “any chance to play in the premier league would be so hard to turn down” but that he hoped he’d get to do it at Sunderland.

I wouldn’t put it past him

This is another appreciation post for LO9.
One of my sons saw a request from Lukes friend and business partner for a strip as his son was a mascot for the day.
My son contacted him and said he could borrow my 12 year old granddaughters strip, which was accepted.
They met before kick off and Lukes friend told my son that he was stopping over at Lukes house so would get Luke to sign it as a thank you (bearing in mind Luke is my granddaughters favourite and had a cushion with his face plastered over it

However, tonight Luke took time out to send a video message to my son thanking her for helping out his friend.

Agree - Luke is becoming a Legend, getting beyond the cult hero stage. He will be remembered and spoken of way more that someone like say Howard Gayle, who was was a cult hero for a season or so, but nowhere near Legend status.

(In fact I thought Howard Gayle was only popular as people liked his song. It was the one where you shouted 'Howard Gayle' nine times in 3 sets of three, then shouted it twice more at the end a bit louder. Was a good song mind. Good one for us beginners at the back of the Fulwell end.)
