I'm a bit puzzled as to why Whickham isn't played through the middle. Fletcher is good at holding the ball up and had a very good spell when he joined you where he was banging them in but young Whickham is a real handful. He'd make a very good number 9.

Fletch is a goalscorer mate, plain and simple, Wickham is far from a natural finisher.

Fletch recent stats are false, he's never been fit, broke his ankle for Scotland after scoring 3 in first 6 or so last season and he was never fit, then he missed some of pre-season again after ankle ligaments.

When he is fit, and sharp, he's always going to outscore Connor, he'll outscore most.

He's a better footballer than he ever gets credit for, Sunday was him, great touch, hold, keep it simple, he's a very good player.

If he was called Julio or Santi people would **** over him (when fit...) he's 1 in 3 over a huge number of games, that's genuine quality.

He's been injured on and off for 18 months now and it's cost us dearly.

Aye, don't get me wrong mate, Fletcher is a very good footballer. But I would liken Whickham to Andy Carroll.... very strong, decent pace, good shot and a big physical presence in the air. He could be a very good old-fashioned style centre forward......however, Fletcher is probably more of a team player and in the present age, he will get the nod.

Us mate, absolutely us.

Anything can happen in a derby, to be bossed by a ****pot club 3 in a row, head hanging.

I think we'll beat them like, but we won't canter it by any stretch. Be a nice atmosphere of course.

Hull were better last year than they are this year. Newcastle lost 3 home games against you lot in that 4. Sunderland have had 2 away games in their 3 defeats and one of them was when you had a player sent off in the first minute. So these things can happen. We haven't beaten you with 11 Sunderland players on the pitch at the end of the game since April 2008.

Connor hits it hard but his accuracy is woeful like. He's got it all there mind, he will become a very good player, I'm glad we have him. He'll never be prolific like, Carroll is a good comparison, he'll get a few and be a bastard to defend against.

Fletch is a proper goalscorer, you know, if he played for someone like a Spurs with direct wingers he'd score a hatful. Not glamorous enough I guess.

Yeah, they were better last year, it's what Bruce does, he gets a team solid, then he tries to add quality, but puts too much focus on the same areas and ends up over supplied.

This is what alienated Bent and he ended up leaving, that was Bruce hanging himself. Gyan was a better player by a distance, but Bent would score for fun, Gyan scored in patches, wanted winter off etc.

He couldn't handle them all together, and then Cana asked to leave and he folded, he had issues getting his bird (who was ****ing unreal, they lived in the Baltic same time as me...) a visa, but she'd have had one in a few months anyway when Albania joined the EU, Bruce just let him go.

We had the makings of a great team but Bruce cannot take a team up a level, he's proven it several times now.

I get that, the point was that circumstances did go against Sunderland when they played Hull last year, which was a key factor in them beating you 3 times. 2 3-0 wins Sunderland had at Newcastle were comfortable victories, especially the second one where Newcastle felt sorry for themselves.

Aye, absolutely agree, the home game especially, lose a CB after about 3.2 seconds in what was gonna be a tight game and we were ****ed. Long ripped us apart that day.

The cup loss, well Gus played the ressies, bit annoying as it was a route to Europe.

Aye, but we could have drawn Inter, then you's could have f**ed off with the 'ever seen a Mackem in Milan' s**te, which for some reason really f**s me off. Ha.

If you'd got to the final. Was going to point that we'd have had Sheffield United in the Semi's but then so would you. Got to say that song is a bit outdated now like.
