One constructive thing to say - does anyone else feel like the substitutions yesterday weren't the greatest? I honestly think that Puncheon could have unlocked some doors for us yesterday. Was he slightly injured, or was it tactical to wait until the 91st minute to bring him on? I definitely think he should have come on before Ward-Prowse, who is a very solid player, but not a match winner (yet).
That's what annoys me the most, yet the players seem to get off with failing to score. Managers can only do so much, they can't physically run on the pitch and help the players score. I bet we didnt get people wishing Pardew was still here when the players did the same under Adkins.
Let yourself down there Archers. Came across as rather petulant which is not like the rest of your posts.
Puncheon's first touch is something that constantly annoys me, it balloons off of him. I've just been having a discussion on Twitter about levels of disappointment with Lallana. He's evidently coming back from injury just now, but it seemed to work alright with JR, GR and JP behind RL. Although, SD has also looked good in the hold. It seems at the moment only one of Gaston/Adam turns up for a game, and they should really compliment each other well. What three would you go with between the more defensive midfielders and the striker?
It certainly sounded like we went downhill a bit after Gaston came off. But there does seem to de this constant discussion about his ability to last 90 minutes, so maybe it was a change for fitness reasons rather than anything else. Likewise, Puncheon rather than JWP in place of Lallana would have made more sense to me, but I'm not going to criticise a manager for giving game time to a youngster. They're not going to improve sitting on the bench. And besides, maybe it was also a little kick up the backside for Puncheon after his poor game against QPR. It is probably the first time all season though that I have deeply missed Sharp. I don't want to get into the discussion of his loan move again, becuse we've covered that on here on numerous occassions and I've stated that can understand the various possible reasons why the loan move happened. But when we've got Lambert, Jay, Lallana and Gaston all starting, it does leave us short of goal-scoring options on the bench. I would have loved to have been able to chuck Sharp on for the last 15 minutes yesterday.
Move on, you are living in the past and its against the rules of the forum to not tow the club line. You know this, and yet you still demonstrate freewill. They will hunt you down. They will make you see sense.
I can't help it but you have to toe the line. There I have demonstrated my freewill and will not be bullied into being anything other than a pedant.
Strewth Folks.....what's with all the squabbling? There is quite a few of us that adored NA. The fact is though for whatever reason he isn't there anymore. Get used to it.......inevitably what ever happens in the future you will get different fans saying NA would have done this or that or he would have achieved this or that level. The fact is they may be right or wrong but we will never know because he 'ain't here any more!! That will not stop those fans opinions though. The choice for me is simple and is not complicated as some seem to want to think. What ever happens up or down NA will not be the cause or solution.....he is not here to make those decisions. So no real point in going on about NA. Not suggesting you should forget him as he is part of our history but do move on as it is a bit tiresome keep on bringing him up it just isn't constructive.........
I remember for a long time after he had left us a bloke who sat near us at the Dell used to say "Joe Jordon would have got that" whenever a ball was floated into the box and we failed to get near it. Even now when it happens I always say it for a laugh to the very lovely Mrs Godders Another guy used to call Matty a fat lazy bar****d until he scored then he went into fits of extacy shouting out his praises! FFSF (f**king fickle saints fan).
Agree. Why are we still banging on about Adkins? As above we will never know but I trust Cortese's judgement and if he (and his board) feel that Poch is the best man for the job then I trust them. We haven't been that prolific in front of goal all season IMO, what are people basing their opinions on when they say adkins would have had us mid table by now? Stats from games prior to and after managerial change?
So surely dropping him from the starting line up will have proved his point? I don't understand bringing ward-prowse on, we looked solid in the middle but were lacking flair again. Why not bring on Puncheon for Lallana and have a real go in a game that we were controlling? Gaston was looking tired and giving the ball away as usual towards the end, so I understand taking him off, it was just the lallana one that I found strange.
Happy Birthday Nigel, bet you are glad you are not taking training at Staplewood today, it's bloomin taters out there.
