The thread on the Mackems board about this is slightly stomach churning.
Our regular visitor from Lester caused much consternation on there by suggesting that the people who thought him innocent until proven guilty were fine, but those chanting in his support when he'd been charged weren't fine...oh and that he thought their fans wouldn't have been so supportive if he hadn't been an important first team player

First time I've completely agreed with him!

You normally do until they turn up at court...

When your barrister looks at you and says...

Time to give up.

(Not that I'd know, but most people take the chance the witness won't see it through and hang in just in case. Once they are at court you know it's game on and may as well cop it if you are guilty)

When I did jury service this happened 90% + of the time, get to final stage (court) plead guilty, get a lesser sentence for 'admitting guilt' - get time off sentence for not having to put victim through giving 'evidence' & deny a couple of other charges (bit of unofficial plea bargaining) -
the experienced 'con's play this game & spend a chunk of time as a remand prisoner (better conditions) & this gets knocked off their sentence ...

lost my faith in justice after this ....

From what I understand 2 charges he has pleaded not guilty, so the trial will still go ahead. So it will still put the girl through the rigors of the court case. However maybe she will do it by video link though.

He's going to be very popular inside although he'll be too old for most of the people on his wing

Yes that's my understanding - mine was just an example of what I witnessed (or didn't ) - the 'court staff ' ? told us at one point it was 3 months before a trial actually went to 'jury' - at the last minute all the 'accused' admitted 'guilt' with lesser (less provable) charges being dropped

For the girl she should get video link or pre-recorded if deemed so.
Perhaps his brief has advised he has a 'chance' (beyond reasonable doubt) with the other charges ?

Isn't that how all this came about in the first place?

Sunderland fc deserve all the stick they are getting at the moment on these forums, any other occupation Johnson, would have been suspended as soon as the allegations came to light till it was sorted one way or another.

Suspending someone because of allegations alone is unfair, there's no way of telling if they are genuine or malicious. Once he was charged with the offences they have reason to believe there is a case to be answered and should have then suspended him pending the verdict of the court.

Reactions: The FRENCH TICKLER
From seeing him during has days in the restaurants and bars around Alderley Edge post match days whilst he was at Man City, why am I not surprised by this. Certainly liked his drink more so than most at face value

Is liking a drink a sign of a predilection for under age females? There are plenty on here we should be concerned about in that case.
