21 years ago today (1996) the late great Alan Mc Donald made his 52nd and final appearance for Northern Ireland. The most capped player in QPR's history.
51 years ago today Rodney Marsh made his home debut in a 6-1 win over Millwall in the old 3rd Division scoring twice. In goal for Millwall that day was Alex Stepney who had commented on how poor English keepers were and that he'd never conceded more than two goals in any game! On this day 35 years ago Dave Clement sadly took his own life aged just 34.

On this day 50 years ago Sir Gareth Edwards made his debut for Wales in Paris, the start of a run of 53 consecutive matches in their golden era which saw him win three Grand Slams. He also was part of the Lions winning tours in New Zealand and South Africa and, unsurprisingly, was the scorer of a try so legendary it is simply referred to as "that try"...

Still the greatest try I've ever seen. Every time I watch it I get goosebumps. Those side steps by Phil Bennett were sublime. What a side Wales had then and what a side the Barbarians were then too.
