Someone recently said to me,,

"The days are long but the years are short."


They were right, this is like being strapped to the front of a runaway train ...

... I can see things flying past, glimpse people but it's all moving too fast.

I'm looking forward to this summer but how many do I have left?

The many weeks of lock-down have just flown by, every bloody day just seems the same, considering it'll be Midsummer in just over 3 weeks!

I need to re-evaluate what I'm doing and where I'm going, life is too short - we need an alternative plan, as you say there are more summers behind us than in front!

Sorry for being moribund, but your post brings it home, the stark reality of this ongoing ****show!

Praying that this Pandemic will go as quickly as it arrived!

A few things that this **** show of a virus has reminded me about.

I miss my parents coming round to see the kids and how much it brightens up mam and dad's days. Face time is OK but tough, especially for my mam who is desperate to be dragged off to my daughters room to play babies with my daughter

How quickly my kids are growing up and how much I miss because I am at work

How it is easy to fall into a routine/rut and how hard it is to get out of it

We just have to count our blessings and stay safe, this pandemic is not over, so take care, some of the scenes on TV last night were frightening, beaches packed with sun bathers, beauty spots overcrowded, let them be the test crash dummies , keep watching the infection rate and lets see how this test and trace preforms in practice. As for short summers its my experience, days and especially summers are getting shorter, and were well before this crisis, for me, its the passing of time and just like grand children, it comes to most of us, and we have to be truly thankful we are so lucky. .

Thankful we are all safe. Waiting on news from work about my future but I guess it is what it is. Thinking of a possible move back to the north east if my job goes tits up as you get more property for your money than down here. Stay safe.

Whilst I haven’t heard ( but expected) the civil rights privacy people objecting , I have seen someone I know put on Facebook “ it’s just for the government to get information about you “, and people agreed saying no way they would take part . No trace , lockdown in effect over , business now calling for 14 day quarantine of arrivals to be scrapped ( hasn’t even started!). Brace for huge wave 2?

I have to admit that it was counting my future summers that made me think.

I like 'adventure' holidays that depend on being fit, long distance walking, taking a boat out, snorkeling, exploring, etc.

So I'm making the most of my summers while I can.

I have discovered that during this lock down- whilst eternally lounging around the house in my old joggers and t shirt,that this has caused all my everyday clothes to have shrunk...

That's true. If people aren't prepared to be sensible, continue social distancing, washing hands etc... these people had better be prepared to lose to someone close to them. Businesses are having to adapt to incorporate the new measures, the general public should do the same. Scrapping the 14 day quarantine rule at this stage would be madness. The people blatantly ignoring advice will be the first to complain if a second wave does hit, and the Government refuses to extend the furlough period.

The government can get that same information from Facebook and any other social media platform you care to mention. If it gets people out of lockdown and back to work then maybe they ought to think about it.

The government can get that same information from Facebook and any other social media platform you care to mention. If it gets people out of lockdown and back to work then maybe they ought to think about it.

Absolutely . The sAme people who object to the govt supposedly collecting info on them ( how come they actually believe the govt have the interest , the staff and the resources to start investigating individuals ???) are the same who aren’t bothered about torturing all and sundry with details of their lives, and leaving themselves wide open to I D theft.
I also hope that those not helping the country now because they don’t want the govt to know they have a phone and it’s number , remember that and if they ever need to claim benefits , they tear up the application form when they reach the question which says “ what is your phone number “

Most noise today coming from the Aircraft Lobby and the Turf Industry. Plenty of money / influence, in those vital economies.

One thing that lockdown has done is give me a kick up the arse and make me realise what’s important and what’s not. Kids are growing up too quick and I need to make sure that I prioritise time with them and the missus instead of working all of the time

Exactly marra, you work to live, not live to work. When you're younger and bringing your own kids up it's different, then the grandbairns come along and it's like a light going on, where the f***have all those years gone. Its a different kind of love and it's class but terrifying at the same time.

Been sitting in a company meeting now and its been made known that there will be redundancies - consultation is set to begin mid June.

So possibly going to be losing my job. Need to start thinking about what i want to do.
