It was a better second half, we didn’t deserve to win but having gone ahead with just a few minutes to go, it was poor defending to allow so much space for the lad to get that shot away. Nothing you can do once it’s hit like that but he should never have had that space
Tbf, it's rare for a shot like that to go in so it would seem the least dangerous situation. We were expecting a cross from the wing so everyone was back, and there was too much ground to make up.
However, I will say that nobody seemed alert enough to go out to him, seemed like they were all waiting for someone else to go first.

I think in 999/1000 it goes miles over the bar and you say to the defence good job of staying company and not rushing out to leave space for guy to pass it through. All ifs and buts though.

It's not often anyone will even take that shot on, let alone pull it off, so I won't be too hard on the defence there.
We're still struggling to put together a good game, and there's plenty to be critical of, but that goal would be low down on my list. Just one those out of the blue moments that make football so fascinating - except when you're on the receiving end.

At the moment we are clinical with the very few chances we create. We just cough up way too much many chances and are very pedestrian with most things we do.
That's only because we try and set up perfect chances.

The first half was the typical predictable build up. In this era of "modern foitball" players have been coached away from taking the sort of shot that we conceded at the end in typical attacks, which has the effect of the opposition knowing that we won't try and shoot from distance.

The 2nd half was a bit better because the full backs were involved more and mixed things up a bit. The lack of width in our attack means that our full backs are integral to forming any kind of variety in attack.

What's the kingfisher pic about?
The new site suggested I needed an avatar and it was the first photo I came across on my phone that seemed remotely ok.

Its a malachite kingfisher taken on a bridge in Kruger National Park in around 2017 maybe?. We rocked up next to it ina safari vehicle and it didn't move so I took a photo from about 2m away.

I struggle to see how we are going to get to the end of season in a CL qualifying spot (which will be the clubs "must do" target ) playing like this and with the sparse resources we have

Just spent £200m on them this summer including the guy that was behind Haaland as best striker in the league. Not sure it’s lack of quality striker that is our issue atm. If can’t create anything then even Haaland would struggle to score goals for us.
That’s for 2 first team strikers, what about strikers in the U-21’s etc if the need arose, or has Slot sold them all?

I am not Slots greatest fan but he’s just the head coach. He needs to coach what he is given to coach. I’m sure that he has some say in who will fit and who doesn’t but I do not believe for a second that he’s completely to blame for the lack of depth.

Well we've gone 8 or 9 games unbeaten, which the teams.around us aren't managing to do.

Yeah, I don't think Slot gets much say in either sales or purchases tbh
