cannot be offside if the ball is pulled back as you need to be in front of the ball when it is played to be offside .
I think the goal should have stood as lots similar(ish) have however he was close to the GK when ball played so easy to argue he was effecting the play

Er, you sort of missed the point there. I meant the player who pulled the ball back, not the scorer.

Robbo was standing near the goal line within feet of the GK as VVD headed the ball there really is no comparison to a man 6 yards from the goal and on the touchline .

Sigh, I agree. Quinner's contention, though, was that anyone in an offside position in a 6-yard box is automatically offside: I countered that by saying that rule is that being in an offside position does not mean you're offside - that is the actual rule. It shouldn't be changed for just one part of the pitch - it doesn't need to be. You're not necessarily active just because you're in the 6-yard box.

I rest my case.

By the fact your in the six yard box will attract attention even if only a cursory glance from an opposition player. The offside rule needs to be redefined.

I'm not seeing a team that it's capable of winning many games. Something is very wrong. If I had to guess we'll be mid table very soon. Hope I'm wrong but I may don't see us beating many PL trans, they already smell blood.
Not like you to be this gloomy, luv. You ok?

The remarkable point of this is that Oliver (again!) thinks that Robertson is "directly in front of him". Though I wouldn't expect the lino who made the call to know otherwise, one simple view on VAR should have told them the Robbo is nowhere near the goalie's eyeline, and the 'movement' (ducking under the ball) was nowhere near as impactful as Doku attempting to head the ball as it flew past him.

VAR as a system is designed to help get the right decisions in the areas it's allowed to intervene in. It's meant to take the subjectivity out of the decisions not add more subjectivity in there.

If it's allowing subjectivity, it's a failing system.

Its not a failing system, it's the people using the system that are incompetent

I got insulted for daring to suggest a player just did his job last midweek

I dont insult people back on here, I just call it like I see it and get pelted and such

Lfc will not be anywhere near midtable by the end of this season. It'll be fine.

We will end up 3rd or 4th.

You were talking about Conor Bradley who was clearly the standout performer <laugh>

It's semantics really isn't it. The people using the system are part of the system and the system can't function without them. If any part of the system isn't working then the whole doesn't work. If any one out of the audio links, the cameras, the monitors or the humans working the equipment fails then the whole system fails. The only part of the system that keeps malfunctioning is the human.

Interesting article on sky showing what we all know but the drop off in running stats / pressing stats and counter pressing stats is astronomical.

Now we expected it to drop from 2 years ago as Slot has a different more methodical style which helped us preserve fitness and probably led to less injuries, but even comparing it to last season is a huge drop off.

https://www.skysports.com/football/...r-physicality-and-intensity-between-the-lines

Interceptions and tackles per game down from 25 to 20

Distance coveted, we are 3rd lowest with only West Ham and Chelsea below us. Man City and Arsenal are 2 of the top 3

Distance covered down albeit slightly

Pressure down from around 335 per 90 to less than 280!!

Counter pressures down from 84 to 75

Looking at individuals
Szobo numbers hugely down but also impacted by playing RB
But jones minus 17, gravenverch minus 10 mac minus 8 and gakpo minus 14 are huge drops offs which are allowing teams to get up the field at us so much easily. Has to be a mixture of both tactics and fitness

You get pelted because you have a habit of talking
at people other than to them or you're making out that you're the font of all football knowledge other than just having an opinion or to suggest how you think or feel how things may go.

Disagreeing with you isn't insulting you.

The evidence of your eyes tells you that as well, but I did think Szobbo was being more the number 8 we bought two seasons ago, except, of course, for those games he's been shoe-horned into the RB position.
