why bother as it is a subjective decision ?Liverpool have contacted PGMOL about the VAR ruling out the goal.
I agree to some extent. It is difficult to argue that an offside player in the six yard box is not interfering with play. That City picture isn't really accurate as he got onside before the ball was headed, I remember it as I thought it showed up how absurd the whole interfering with play thing is. Still should have been disallowed for obstruction though imo.
I still think offside should be offside tbh, if you're in the attacking third you're interfering with play one way or another 99% of the time.
Not seen your one btw so not commenting on that but seems pretty unanimous that it was a poor decision.
I'm glad they did. I don't think anyone expects anything to come of it but clubs should be pointing out the failures every time they happen.why bother as it is a subjective decision ?
Isn't every player in the six yard box interfering with play whether they are offside or not.I agree to some extent. It is difficult to argue that an offside player in the six yard box is not interfering with play.
this is the problem there was no "failure" as such as the "interfering with play" decision is subjective and determined by Ref and or the lino .Now despite the bollocks about VAR being unable to intervene in subjective decisions it clearly can .I'm glad they did. I don't think anyone expects anything to come of it but clubs should be pointing out the failures every time they happen.
We've actually front loaded the season with the most difficult fixtures, a better set coming up should give us a chance to get back to winning ways via getting back to basics.
Mine's an Indesit .Definitely front loaded, I shared an article about this not long ago
Taking the city game in isolation, these things happen. City were really good and they outplayed us.
I think we have turned a bit of corner from were we were before the Villa game. As others have said, we've played a lot of tough fixtures in this period and I expect performances and results to be better after the international break.
I'm not seeing a team that it's capable of winning many games. Something is very wrong. If I had to guess we'll be mid table very soon. Hope I'm wrong but I may don't see us beating many PL trans, they already smell blood. What, that we'll start winning games??
The 'failure' I'm referring to is with the system. it clearly fails regularly.this is the problem there was no "failure" as such as the "interfering with play" decision is subjective and determined by Ref and or the lino .Now despite the bollocks about VAR being unable to intervene in subjective decisions it clearly can .
The real gripe is about consistency but unlikely to get it with humans in charge .
how did the system failThe 'failure' I'm referring to is with the system. it clearly fails regularly.
I don't see anything 'very wrong'. There are clearly problems to be addressed, you don't lose three quarters of your forward line in one fell swoop and carry on as normal for instance but there's too much talent for this not to come together and start blowing teams away.I'm not seeing a team that it's capable of winning many games. Something is very wrong. If I had to guess we'll be mid table very soon. Hope I'm wrong but I may don't see us beating many PL trans, they already smell blood.
Salah has been, to put it mildly, poor. In many respects, its like playing with 10 men.I have to say I expected it to be a bridge too far after thr real Madrid game and it was away as well.
We are, where we are. We are not at the races for 1st. Its fairly obvious irrespective of what anyone wishes.
We are not about to pull a spurs there and trundle along in 17th. We will improve once slot can keep the 14 or 15 players he wants fit.
Macallister is key.
Salah is a problem.he has to adapt.
Yeah, it's not the system (especially since the Villa game). We've gone back to the title winning system and it was enough to beat Villa and Real.how did the system fail
yeah it's painful to watch him this season but can't see him being dropped . Defo shouldn't be playing 3 games in a week .Salah has been, to put it mildly, poor. In many respects, its like playing with 10 men.
He put a shift in against Real, actually tracking back and defending and he scored a lovely consolation goal vs Brentford, but outside of that he's almost non-existent. He's getting marked out of games easilly, not competing well and getting knocked off the ball. Where has his fabled strength gone? When trying to dribble, the 2nd or third touch is always, always too hard and he loses the ball.
I agree to some extent. It is difficult to argue that an offside player in the six yard box is not interfering with play.
VAR as a system is designed to help get the right decisions in the areas it's allowed to intervene in. It's meant to take the subjectivity out of the decisions not add more subjectivity in there.how did the system fail
cannot be offside if the ball is pulled back as you need to be in front of the ball when it is played to be offside .Players are in offside positions all the time, but not offside. The rule literally is about affecting play, and by all standards and precedents, Robbo just simply wasn't. Even that ****weasel Gallager couldn't deny that yesterday, but instead focused his whole argument upon subjective decisions and on-field calls, and in essence said VAR is only there for objective calls. But to follow your assertion to its logical conclusion, if an attacker pulls the ball back from the byline on the corner of the 6-yard box to a teammate on the penalty spot who slots it past the goalie, the only defender in that half, then technically, the player now standing in the six-yard box is offside. Think about it.
no offside days is a subjective decision at times rather than a factual one .VAR as a system is designed to help get the right decisions in the areas it's allowed to intervene in. It's meant to take the subjectivity out of the decisions not add more subjectivity in there.
If it's allowing subjectivity, it's a failing system.
