If our season is so bad that we don’t make the top 4 would you get rid of Slot at the end of the season or so long as he makes top 6 he gets a reprieve?
top 5 minimum get CL so thats the starting point but just wait and see what the season brings but i was worried after the transfer window as imo we left ourselves very lacking in squad depth not helped by Slots reluctance to use gthe options he has .

The disallowed goal thing...

1) It had absolutely no bearing on the result. City deserved their win, and then some.

2) It was insane. Robertson is neither in the keeper's eyeline nor does he in any way impede the keeper's ability to save the ball. Now, perhaps some can remember West Brom having a similar one ruled out against us some years back (it was the game Ally scored in the last seconds). I argued vehemently with Tobes that it didn't matter that Ally would never get to that ball (their disallowed goal), because the law specifically states (or did) that if a player impedes their vision, they are offside - their player was standing right in front of Ally. Robbo was neither blocking the goalie's view, and nor was he in any way impeding the goalie from saving it (or any other City player).

The fact that VAR reviewed this and came up with that call is ludicrous. Just as annoying is the various pundits and commentators saying that it wasn't fair, but they are the rules: no, they're ****ing not.
The thing I have seen since it took the linesmen 13 seconds to put his flag up so there was someone telling him to raise his flag. It just another in a long line of seriously poor decisions the last few seasons. Some how VAR has made the officiating even worse then it was

They put the rules on screen and the pundits etc all agreed that none of the for bullet points were broken and the goal should have stood

Absolutely not. I didn't expect us to change half of a title-winning first XI in the Summer, but as we have, he must have at least 2 seasons to get them playing his way. Not qualifying for CL next season would be a disaster, but let's not get all Man U about and change our manager every time the weather vane moves.

Apart from look at the team that was on the pitch today from the off.

Marmadashvili for Alisson

Back 4 only Bradley for Trent -
Midfield the same as last season - however Mac Allister has seriously struggled.

Wirtz for Diaz
Ekitike for Nunez
Salah same

just as Doku made us look like chumps today we miss Diaz directness and running at players. Gapko can’t do it and neither can Wirtz.

Salah was pretty irrelevant, again

Something is wrong behind the scenes that we’ve pretty average / post most of the season in defence and midfield.

Heitinga was assist coach last season and left.
Lindjers was assistant to Klopp and left

is it a case of the assistant leaving and Slot being shown up tactically because his replacement isn’t actually up to it?

as i was multi tasking i had both telly and radio on and all said it should have stood and the decisive vote goes to the PL board where the majority thought it should stand though naturally they thought it was funny it didn't

For me it’s largely fitness, that’s no excuse either - they should be ****ing at it now, we’re Mid November.

But you see that performance against Real (who are flying btw) and you can see we are very capable still - but just don’t have the legs to go again

Both left for Manager positions, also Lindjers left when Klopp left.

Also also Heitinga is about to be sacked by Ajax, so maybe not a tactical genius behind Slot.

Gio could probably described as mediocre at Rangers. Lost the league to Ange but did make the EL final before getting sacked early the next season.

Not sure we can put this at the Assistants door. I think Slot dropped lucky last season with a settled squad that was primed for a title run.
Too many players through the door this summer and Slot doesn't have the experience to integrate them properly imo

Except for Keane, who despises Robbo so said it was his fault for not getting out quickly enough. :emoticon-0112-wonde

Wouldnt sack him unless he has an Amorim type season finishing just outside relegation zone.

He earned the right to get time. Add in we’ve just backed him with a whole new attack that needs time to gel and still have the Jota situation that’s affecting everyone.

Especially city were awarded a goal.v wolves last season where the obstruction was absolutely obvious.

Its thst simple really. If everyone gets dinged the same then its fair.

When one side has a lino flagged everything off even when its obvious they are not, and the var is up to shenanigans (giving a pen then trying to review the keeper for saving it) well youd have to be very much better than that side and we were not.

If vvd got his goal it would have them coming out to score 5. We were on the ropes and hanging on.

I think it's time EPL had foreign refs. Not because they are better, but because it would remove any debate over supporter bias. Some of them are perhaps lower league club supporters but not all, I mean Oliver is a Newcastle supporter surely every game he refs in the Prem impacts the club he supports, how can he not have a bias towards a result that might benefit his club.

And even if they don't support a Prem team, there are enough historic and local rivalries as well as local feelings towards certain teams and areas.

Time for proper impartiality. Then you could only say it's a **** decision.

I dare anyone to show me a continental ref who's worse than ****ing Oliver. I double dare you. And as for Tierney.... :headbang:

A completely bent, biased, and corrupt example of the obvious agenda that the PGMOL has against Liverpool, especially since Coote has been exposed for what he is, and always was. No, it didn't affect the result. But it did display the mendacious, venal nature of the PGMOL and its chorus of apologists like Sky and the BBC. They didn't want us to win the league last season - God knows, we'll pay for it this time around. :emoticon-0112-wonde

Not just bias.
imo it’s only a matter of time that one or more refs get caught up in a betting scandal. Too many strange decisions over the years in the prem. foreign refs will be no different. There’ll always be a bad apple.

I made the point a couple of weeks ago that he may not get that long if the shareholders get nervous. FSG have a history of being patient but they’d never pumped $450m into the team before. Slot should have time imo but top 4 and a good run at a cup is expected.

Yes they have. The red sox have trades loads of plauers for massive money and massive contracts get awarded.

They have not put that much in either they got huge fund back from other transfers to enable that spend.

They might get nervous with Hughes but as long as they scrape 5th they will be fine.

The trigger has to be performance not what was spent.

The performance is massively behind last season and thats defensively with largely the same outfit.

The team had played a 1-1 in March 24 with qunasah at cb not konate, kelleher not marmadashvilli, Gomez at lb, Endo not gravenberch, elliott not wirtz and nunez, not ekitike.

Now obviously city have improved but we had what is just about what is supposedly our first team put there.

Slot has made a call at lw. Hes dropped gakpo. Work rate has been poor.

He refuses to touch salah most of the time. The guy is a shadow of his former glory.

Hes not used endo at all if he can avoid it. So gravenberch and macallister are wrong out.

He's made a call for kerkez to be dropped but Robertson isn't up to 2 games a week and hasnt been since a dislocated shoulder over a year ago now.

Slot.seems to have major trust issues with some players.

What i found poor yesterday was not the expected difference in fitness but the lack of awareness tactically.

Doku was hanging round narrow on the left or in the middle. He was positioned because they knew bradley has no cover. One ball out with a switch.. a quick pass inside to doku and hes in.

That says to me people are seeing gaps in cover and setting up to exploit it. They are walking through us.

We were so disciplined v real Madrid but now I wonder had a shot gone in for them would we have fallen apart there too?

We need cms to stay and cover but when you are 1 or 2 down they go and they all go and it becomes a **** show at times.

This is definitely a huge problem. Absolutely zero patience. We concede with 70 odd minutes left in the game but we act like there's 7 minutes left on the clock and forget about shape and tactics - it's suicidal
