Tactically slot is actually holding the left side deep and not allowing a full press.
Hes not selecting endo and forcing in attackers in midfield.
Watching gakpo v brentford, he'd be in my.office this morning getting a dress8ng fown and he wouldn't stsrt a game until he kicks 7 shades out of his opponents in training for 2 weeks.
It was utterly unacceptable to just leave it to kerkez while the rb just ran on.

I think Gakpo is a bit of a luxury player. He looks great when he cuts inside and bends one into the far corner, but it's a very low success rate. He's got plenty of power in his shots too, but rarely hits the target.
And, as many have said already, he very rarely plays the LB in. He almost always cuts inside to shoot and when it fails he passes back into midfield or defence.
As for defensively, he doesn't work hard enough for me. I actually think Salah works harder (not a criticism of Salah, he can work hard at times but think he's often told not too)
especially when half look unfit or out of form. I haven’t had those little confidence in our ability to win since Hodgson.
Midfield has been an issue for years except last season where Gravenberch had an amazing season.
Somehow the balance was about right for just over half of the season and that was good enough to win the league, but there's no getting away from the fact that Gravenberch is not an orthodox 6.
The way that Slot seems to want to set up would demand almost two 6s, unless we can find someone as good as Rodri or Zubimendi.

He should have done better with Ouattara's goal. Ali would have closed him down better - but then Ali is arguably the best in the world at one-on-ones. I hope some of it rubs off on Mamar.

Hes made it crystal clear he wanted endo and gomez gone. Endo shrugged at him and pointed at his contract so imo he will rather lose that play endo.
He wanted gomez gone but failed to get guehi. Hes now willing to stick Szoboszlai rb rather than pick gomez at all.
You can go through the side like that but the issues are clear.
Gravenberch shoved forward, scored and assisted but the door is wide open at the back.
Macallister not fit or not willing. I dont know what that is.
No cover at these classic 6/8 type roles as he refuses to play endo and then refused to look beyond jones.
This is a massive issue in our line up. We are getting absolutely walked through.
Then you look at bradley and see a kid being actively destroyed mentally. He's biggest asset is agression and running. Every pass is backwards. He doesn't know to go or not go.
You look then at kerkez who has the same issue but if he does make a tackle knows he will be subbed. Hes on his own against 2 just like bradley but getting pelted with abuse. He cant play his natural game as theres no.midfield to cover a run forward.
Klopp would take this squad and within 2 weeks have it functional. He would.

How we fix this is pure and simple. Harder work, put a foot in, win the ball.
If you lose it go win it back aggressively.
Agression doesn't mean sliding in from 10 yards away studs up. It means getting in there nice and tight and not backing off.

I looked at that goal and if ali came out there was no touch the lad made that would allow him smother the ball.
Alisson moves when you take thst touch. That's his trigger. He stands up big then the second you take that next touch he closes the ground before you can fire it.
There was no real opportunity to get there.
But he backed off, and that gives the striker more goal to aim at. At least he might have forced him wide and given Konaté a small chance of getting back.
Mamar was always up against it, but I think he made the wrong decision - retreating gave him no chance at all.
I missed their first two goals and haven't watched any highlights from the game, for obvious reasons. He seems to jump for a save a second too late. His movement isn't as fluid as Alisson either who's great at anticipating. New team, new league, let's see how it goes until Alisson gets back.

Again alisson will pitch his tent then wait for thst touch. Once the player touches it forward he can no longer hit it and alisson is like lightening in his closing to smother it.
Marmadashvilli would have had to come out so far the guy could smash it past him before he could reasonably make a save. He'd have had to come to the edge of the box.
The fault lies with the two cms who both went chasing the game and the powder puff wirtz losing it and the two cbs being 4 miles apart.
Thry are only set up to go forward, theres no thought to one cm staying, no thought at all to losing the ball or what to cover.
The second wirtz lost it with Ekitike he had one breif second to maybe do something but the die was then cast as he should have went right at the guy turning and hit him before the ball goes goes.
Jones plays it from sort of left midfield to wirtz, Szoboszlai is in a 10.right side sort of position so theres no 6 nor thought of being a 6.
Once Ekitike plays it poorly.jones jogs across not involved and wirtz doesn't react aggressively.
The two cbs are miles apart neither paying any attention to their forward.

Vvd is obviously just ****ed up of it and has.two goes at the guy petulant rather than properly defending.
Look at the shots damsgaard got off. Again two top svaes made but no cms in the picture. A free run down our middle once a ball turns over.
Obviously alisson is world.class and we will see a difference

I hadn't noticed myself but I've seen others saying that he keeps getting the ball passed to his right foot when he's left-footed. Maybe that's why he's not looking good with the ball at his feet. I would have thought he'd be efficient at both sides with an obvious bias towards one. Some people are very left (or right) footed.

Again go look at that stupid throw. Bad passes back, sloppy ****e then ball is flicked out sort of at Bradley rather than smash it 4 miles down the park.
Bradley then hasnt the sense to not let it out.

I hate when I see them retreating under a half oress as they will play it behind each other as cbs and inevitably end up back to the keeper.
Have not the bravery to pass forward nor even pass it to feet. They pass behind as its assures they couldn't give it to the opposition

Two different situations.
First not every movement is forward.
alissons firdt movment is actually back to the 6 yard box beofre the ball is played, in anticipation. Alisson thrn moves lateral first as the angle is there.l and he has to cover the near post.
The forward takes a faux touch and he then moves out. He is on his 6 yard box.
Marmadashvilli has a guy bearing down from outside the box from miles out. He steps back to 6 yards as he also knows like alisson tjst the ball goes over his head if he goes out.
The first touch is outside the box. The second is yards away from marmadashvilli.
Now I dont think he did well. He got his legs miles apart and couldn't do a thing bit its a bit unfair to critique a guy who kept us in the game with 2 big saves in a situation where most keepers don't get to save it.
Again the forwards touches are far enough out that if you charged out st them he can go either side of you and hit the net. The angles are **** for a keeper.
I'd be fine with anyone slaughtering him for his presence aerially or for his passing.
This was a 5% chance of a save at best.
