blimey would have sworn it was years later .The creation of the PL and the CL happened at the same time in 1992. I have no memory of English clubs pushing on two fronts for new formats at the same time. I can find nothing that suggests what you are saying is correct. We have had one change after another, all money motivated, as you say and we'll no doubt see another new format in years to come.
Anyway ..... as you were.
I treat this place like i'm chatting in a pub so 99% of the time there is no fact checking just relying on my memory which considering how unreliable it is may be a mistake

Already the calls of - poor Ekitike, that’s it now, dropped. Shouldn’t have signed and wouldn’t have if he knew Isak was joining.
Bit premature, can easily see Ekitike playing wider in a narrow LW position when testing gakpo and allowing Wirtz to drift in that wider position in that case.
Assuming no injuries, I’d bet Ekitike plays in at least 30 prem games and starts at least 20 of those
