Because he is advertising himself to us. Do you honestly think he would drop down to our level if higher level clubs were interested?

I believe pretty much all of our signings in this window had interest from higher up clubs but chose us, so I don't see why not.

Is he? Where's his advert? Facebook Marketplace or The Ronny Gill personals?

    Maybe it’s because he’s on £5000 a week

I’m extremely reticent to be excited about Mannone if it even is or might happen. I don’t know he is any better than what we have already. I know he was when he was playing regularly, but that doesn’t mean he still is.

He wasn’t a great keeper for us and if he’s gone backwards then why would he be any better. Certainly not saying he’d be worse, but a lot of people are saying he’s miles better but I have no idea what they’re basing that on. Memory, history. None of which have any relevance in all seriousness.

Personally I'm basing it on the fact that he was a good keeper for us when we were in the prem (he won player of the year) and now we're in league one which is a much worse standard. Feels like people are ignoring the fact that an average player at premier league level is likely to be excellent two leagues lower.

He's only 33 so should still be in his prime. Won goalkeeper of the year a couple of years ago. All seems like logical reasoning to me, there's very little sentiment involved.

Still too many “ifs” for me to get think he will definitely be mikes better (as some are saying). I agree he should be good enough (and significantly better than what we have) but I thought he was an average lower pl keeper. He has been out of first team football for quite a while. He was prone to poor form before joining and when he played for us. Burge is prone to the odd mistake, but is pretty consistent all in all at our level. Made less mistakes this season than most of the back 4 in reality.

You're not wrong but I'd take an average/lower level prem keeper with a couple of issues over what we've got any day.
