You will no doubt have a few of our lot wumming in due course. For me it's rather sad -I think he has a lot of a potential and we need good young English managers (in my view particularly if they were also gifted players) - hope yu appoint Billy Davies - I wanted him for us when Sven left - a man that can definitely create a team that can challenge, even if the owners don't give him much money - as he proved consistently with Forest. Good luck.

Agree - Billy Davies comes across as annoying little so and so but he has pretty good record at this level.

In hindsight reckon NB would have been better learning the ropes as a No2 under a proven manager - as for the Allams probably could criticise them for seemingly putting Nick under pressure to take the job full time when this whole thing might not have ended in tears had they given him the job say to the end of the season and considered their next move then.

you mean what we've heard from our owners, the people who saved us from oblivion

when i was at the donny game, a large portion of those around me, where moaning about the striker situation and why is barmby being so stubborn and not signing anybody............sounds like this stubborness came back to bite him in the ass especially if hes tried insinuating funds wernt available, which it sounds like they were

Surely this could have been sorted with an apology. Maybe not.

I know you are close to the Barmby's OLM but if this statement is true then there is more to consider. Does it mean that when we couldn't buy a goal for most games Nick could have brought a striker in January if he wanted? Roberts did it for Reading a decent loan striker and we could have been in the play offs now.

Down to the naieve actions of a good young manager in the early days of a career, he deserved a second chance.

Think I missed your point here, my spellings usually good though!

I'm not sure which threads they were on but out of nowhere the whole board veered off topic to discuss the origin, definition and spelling of 'toe the line' - twice <laugh>

everyone has gone ga gaaa !!

the club have nailed their stance in January and beyond to the tallest mast in football now ,
Looking at the progress the club made from Jan to May ... ESPECIALLY March , there is little wonder the club sacked NB.

If their statement is to believed -[ and as i said last week , NB has had every opportunity to speak out publicly - ] Barmby was sacked for misrepresenting the board in media communications.
Easily a sackable offence and unfortunately one a local businessman owning a local club cannot accept .

A sad ending , but im not gonna shoot the Allams down on this one - unless there is proof otherwise (and not half alluded speculation from sources )

The Allams are lying though stick. We have read everthing that Barmby said in every interview in the media, and it was never anything other than football speak. For me Nick just stopped towing the line. When he said back in January,he didn't need any new players, that was him just saying what he had been told to say.

Then he hears the reaction from the fans and feels angry that he is made to look a poor manager. The Allams said that they wanted the club to be run by sound business principals. Then in the same breath, tell us they were offering Nick £40,000 a week for a new striker. Bollocks !

40k a week for 4 months that is a loan striker hardly a massive financial commitment, and probably a commitment that would of secured us a play off place, lets not get that confused with the bullard financial commitment the two are worlds apart

managers have in the past often said there is no money available for players , or things like we will have to "box clever" so if that was the case in JAN , then Barmby could have happily said as much .

He didnt he backed the current squad and TBH i backed his ideology in doing that too .
At no point did Barmby say money WASN'T available in Jan , in Jan Barmbys stance was he didnt want anyone.

Like i said , for the Chairmen to so publicly hang Barmby they must either be 100% confident in their cover up , or .... now heres a thought , they might be telling the truth .

To be expected but a disappointing decision none the less. Feel there's more to this than meets the eye and hopefully we can hear the other side of the story. As other posters have said, the Allams now have to spend money if it's true what they have been saying. They've taken a bold decision, I can only hope they can bring us success to justify their decision, crazy as it is at the moment.

I'm not sure which threads they were on but out of nowhere the whole board veered off topic to discuss the origin, definition and spelling of 'toe the line' - twice <laugh>
It's tow the line, surely?! Stand corrected, toe the line, well who would have thought that?! Learn something new every day!

I agree, he stopped toeing the line and paid the price, maybe he thought the Egyptians wouldn't turn out to be the dictators that they have show that they are, misjudged them maybe.

Burnsy's take on things

"I really feel for Nick because he sacrificed his playing career for a job I'm not sure he totally wanted at the time.

"The fans appreciated what he said because they felt he was being honest. Ok, the owners didn't like it but this could have been dealt with in-house. I just feel the whole thing was very avoidable.

"I like the Allams but they've scored an own goal here. I haven't spoken to a single Hull fan who is backing this decision.

"He was a good young manager with quality young players. Now he's gone I think you'll find a lot of those players will leave too."

If we win the league next season, will you all still be wanting the Allams heads? Lets just see how the new season goes. I don't give a toss who's managing us as long as they get the team winning. Nor do i have a clue whats happening behind the scenes and neither do any of you. Lets just see what the future brings. Barmby's gone, get over it

Since when did a manager get sacked and not get compensated?

He has a contract, if it's terminated, then that contract has to be paid off.

He ****ing better be paid off, he's been shafted enough as it is.

There will be terms in the contract that decide what he should be paid. It's not like a normal employment contract where they say a certain period of notice.

I am not sure if they have the right to sack him because of one statement to the press. I would have thought that they should have asked him to publicly retract the statement if it was untrue. I can't see why Nick would lie about this.

If you don't believe what the insiders on here say then I disagree but that's fine.

But what do you suggest was Barmby's motive for saying money wasn't available if it actually was? Why would he make it up?

In the offending interview it was Burnsy who asked him directly if money had been available. He didn't directly state that there was no money as such (he said 'we needed to be a bit cuter' and tried to avoid the question) but it was obvious what he meant. It was a live interview so there was no hiding from the question and he had to just try and answer it the best he could do on the spot. If the owners wanted him to lie for them they should really have had some sort of contingency plan for if someone interviewing him figures out what is going on and asks him directly. What did they want him to say in that situation?

As for the football not being good enough, that, like everything else, goes back to not buying players in January.

I really hope you're right but I can't see it. Why would people be queueing up to work for us now? We aren't seen as a big club, we aren't paying big money to anyone, the owners are looking very dodgy when it comes to transfer funds and they are willing sack you the second you make a slight mistake. Out of work managers like McCarthy and Davies aren't poor, they don't need to come here and we don't have Nick to fall back on any more.

I totally agree with everything you said. Let's see if the Allams can prove what they say. There's no Adam around to get a good manager. I hope they don't negotiate with managers and clubs the same way they did with the council.

Very sad to see our own Hull born manager leave this way, but he is a stubborn **** and it don't matter what you've done or where you've done it you have got to keep on the good side of your employer.

Nick said he was happy with his squad in january and didn't want to strengthen.. this is when we where 3rd in the league looking good for play offs and even the top 2.
We was lacking goals but Nick failed to sign a striker and it didn't seem like he tried either, we then went on to lose 5 games in a row and totally **** up our season at the last hurdle. The Allams expected promotion and i'm sure Nick was told that when he accepted the job, he didn't gain promotion and made a few mistakes along the way.
He then went on to tell the Media it was the Allams fault for not backing him, yet the Allams say they did (Which is the correct story, we'll never know)

People shouldn't jump on the Anti-Allam bandwaggon just because they sacked Nick Barmby, fair enough he's a legend but it doesn't mean he's above the club.

We all need to get behind the team, and just look forward to next season, no Allams out bullshit just lets see what they end up doing, who we sign, new manager etc.

UTT!
