Didn't Hamilton say the team asked him to drive the car as hard as possible to see what breaks so they know what problems they could encounter so they could fix them before the first race? That makes sense to me. It makes no sense handling the car like a baby then in the races it breaks when u try to push it. It makes perfect sense to wring its neck now and see what breaks, fix that and be ready for the races.

I agree Mercedes are now dealing with actual season problems rather than testing ones so I say ignore the Mercedes problems who are way ahead than the others in testing.

He hadn't sat in the car this morning before the gearbox broke. I know some like to pin the blame on him for most things, unless it can be put on Whitmarsh instead, but even that one I think he's innocent!

I'd blame Whitmarsh.

I read a report on why FOTA disbanded the other day and one of the reasons was because of whitmarsh. They actually whitmarshed whitmarsh

Something I noticed a while back is the exhausts seem to be approximately at head height for a following driver. Has any driver commented on whether having all this exhaust in their face when following another car closely is causing them any problems?

Can't imagine following one of these things closely for 20 laps would be particularly pleasant if the driver is being slowly gassed by the car in front!

or turbo fragments straight in the face after a failure!

Makes sense a front brake failure when the car spins during full lock.

Though Benson would like to make it out that it's Vettel's fault of course by not saying anything afterwards. What was the phrase you guys used back in the 606 days 1 Lorca?

The guys seem to be taking out the fuel. Hamilton just did fastest lap of the just...just short of Massa's time he did yesterday.

Yeah, he was carrying a hell a lot of speed at the apex point, on what is a slow corner. Clear the car had not slowed down enough.

oh, look, Forza's back now he's found something that makes Mercedes look bad!

Best hope those shareholders aren't reading this........

I believe they ran out of fuel....I believe they were looking at a fast headline time to finish testing and ran out of fuel on track.

Or testing the limits of the fuel tank for calibration purposes. I would have thought you'd do that at a previous test though.
