Hulkenberg in the Force India seem to be doing well. First car to be faster than a 2013 race car! Really hope FI move up the grid this year, I think they deserve it, after being badly effected by the switch in tyres last year.

So much for the Renault BS that it would all be fixed. Will never trust a team's word again, they're in the **** big time and I reckon the judge will be proven correct in the end.

The Judge was right. Scarbs is saying the same thing:

1. There is a fundamental problem
2. It requires a redesign of the power unit
3. It will take time to fix the problem

Autosport forums said:
@ minute 14:17, after discussing the ES problem briefly, Craig then says the big problem is in the ERS-K system. He said the ERS-K was apparently bringing its power in too quickly back to the ICE mainshaft, causing failure in the ERS-K, and the crankcase itself. He said there is a fundamental problem with the shaft of the ERS-K. Consequently, they now have a big redesign.

"For the rest of testing, they're going to have to without full ERS power... There is also some debate as to whether this part will be ready for Melbourne as well. So potentially for some of the first races the Renault engines could be handicapped because of this problem with this motor generator."
Scarbs talking here: http://pitstopradio.blogspot.co.uk/

Interestingly he also says there's a fundamental problem with the battery, but says the fix is more straightforward than other problems. Based on today Renault still haven't fixed that problem.

Maybe Vettel just wanted to use it, and knew where the problem needed extinguishing. The marshall might have sorted it as well. Some driver prefer to do it themselves.
