Help to decide where the exciting finds from the Digging for Britain Offerton finds should be displayed.

Ideal for new culture house when it opens in a few months, but probably be stolen by gov and put in one of Londons museums

Hope they stay in the north east.

I saw the Lindisfarne Gospel and St Cuthbert's gospel stuck in a case with some other books in the British Library in London. Thought it was a crying shame and they should be kept in the Open Treasures exhibition in Durham Cathedral with the rest of St Cuthbert's relics.

Newcastle are after a few things and Durham could be a home of Sunderland Council don’t offer. Apparently the Culture House is already planned out and the Museum is being reorganised. We need to put pressure on to house them in Sunderland. To date 5 anchors and some Briggstones from Roker have gone to Hylton Castle.

People need to get involved with this and stand up for our region.

We live in a historic part of the world that deserves more recognition.

Being cynical mate, but from experience most people don't. They say a lot but never get involved, or most likely don't do it say anything until it's too late then blame others (the council, the Uni etc. even when it's nothing to do with them). How many moan about the leisure centre being knocked down but had never used it? The ones who moaned when the cinema closed but never went or said they preferred going to Boldon or the MetroCentre, or complain about the shops or pubs in Sunderland but when decent shops or pubs open they never go because they're "too expensive" but will haul ass to Newcastle or the MetroCentre to spend money in the same shops or pubs.

I've said before I had a mate who was involved in the World Cup bid for 2018 and he said one of the hardest things about it was getting local people enthused and to back it. Not businesses or local government and so on, but ordinary people living here. At best you got a shrug of the shoulders non commitment from some and others were just outright negative. "Why waste your time, who'd want to come to Sunderland?" It annoys people like me who do try to get involved with things here to make my home city better because of the amount of apathy you come up against.

Anyway, I've gave my response to this, hoping that Sunderland Museum and Hylton Castle can house a lot, but also suggested a visitor centre type thing for Offerton where some things can be displayed and have talks about them and any new finds from there.
