Any Bernard Manning videos,your bloke's sh!t:emoticon-0102-bigsm
Offensive, no? I doubt Bernard Manning has ever had 600 people walk out of his show at one time.

TBF I'll give him his dues, Manning is skilled at drawing guffaws from the 'I'm not racist, but' crowd. Everybody likes to feel validated, I guess.

A gentle reminder about the no politics rule on here. I realise there are exceptions, but I think most grasp the general principles.

Have a read of the thread title and decide if it may, or may not be for you before reading it.

One problem with political jokes is that far too often, they get elected.

Yes, the last election showed that.

When BM told jokes that didn't involve race, he was pretty adept at his craft - timing and punchline etc. He performed at a wedding I went to in the mid-90s (where he was obviously strapped for cash as wasn't paid that much and it was before his minor resurgence in popularity before his death) and he'd been specifically told not to be racist, and wasnt, as some of the guests were British Indians and he was funny and worked the crowd well. Made it a running theme that he was going to come out with something racist and then turned it around...

I think he found low-hanging fruit racist jokes to be easy for him to write and an ever declining audience to appreciate them. Shame he didn't challenge himself more and aim higher.

Used to watch the wheel tappers and shunters club with BM and Colin Crompton.

Of course the fact is he wasn’t racist as a number of BAME people he knew and worked with have attested.

Paul Daniels was making comments to women that would see him under police investigation nowadays. :emoticon-0138-think
