Here’s some quick maths mate.

Sky Sports has 10.4million customers paying an average of £21 month (£8 less than it was 10 years ago, contrary to what folk say…).

Thats £218 million of revenue.

The Premier League alone costs £3.6

Then there’s the Golf, F1, Boxing, Cricket and US sports.

There’s a £3.4 billion shortfall on one sport alone.

Reading your posts on this thread has been very interesting, and surprising.
I'm not at all to old to learn.

One thought though, and for me it's a shocker.

It's made me see the Licence Fee in a completely new light.
It seems that we may well be getting a bargain!!!

Wouldn’t say a bargain, as such. Sky isn’t cheap, never will be and never suggests it is.

I say it’s about value really. Before I was staff my bill was about £100 month (5-6 years ago), I didn’t begrudge a penny cos I love sport, I like films and I like the on-demand stuff and the big US shows.

I think there’s a balance there. A base TV pack is about £30 and you might watch it 60-70 hours a month. That’s fine to me.

Given the sheer amount of sport I watch, my thoughts were it saved me fortunes not going for a few pints every game.

I'd switch to Sky but the broadband speed where I live with them is slow as ****.

I get gigabit (1130mbps) broadband with Virgin, plus all channels (Sky Sports + BT Sports) included, for £56 a month.

Fastest speed Sky will offer me is 36mbps. No thanks :emoticon-0102-bigsm
I've just moved to youfibre - i get full 1000mbps up and down for £25 a month. I was paying £39 for 70mbps with EE. My speedtest pulls 945mbps up and down.
