My lad isn’t. He’s over there next month with his girlfriend. They’d planned to be in Sunderland for the Friday and Saturday, go to the match against Spurs then down to London early on Sunday. Now he has to change everything around.

Sunderland AFC today confirms that the Premier League has approved the Club’s request for away supporters to remain in the North Stand Upper at the Stadium of Light for the 2026–27 season.
The approval has been granted as a one-season dispensation while the Premier League continues to review and assess the Club’s case for permanent exemption.
The Club’s case to retain away fans in the North Stand Upper is supported by an independent safety assessment.
It is also fully endorsed by the Safety Advisory Group, which has reviewed the proposal and agrees that retaining away supporters in their current location represents the safest operational approach.
The Club would like to thank all stakeholders for their support throughout this process and will provide further updates as discussions with the Premier League progress.

Not 100% sure but I think it’s got to do with fans experience and you have to provide so many pitch side spaces hopefully someone with knowledge of this will help me out here
I'm not sure either but I think it's mainly got to do with the TV companies wanting atmosphere and fan engagement.
They caught themselves out in our game at Leeds.
They’d been on about the incredible atmosphere but all you could hear was Sunderland. When Leeds started singing ‘Marching on Together’ someone went for the pitch side volume control but slid it too quickly.
It was ridiculous and totally obvious …
… they do the same with SJP when you can hear the players shouting to each other.
Update. My lad got everything sorted and has got two tickets for the game on Sunday. All I know is that they are up high in a corner. It’s his g/f first visit ever to the UK. Just hope the team put on a good performance. I know the good people of Sunderland won’t let her down.

1. At the moment, it's really hard for ANYONE to get 'normal' tickets
2. Since everything's online, I'm not sure it's different if you're not in UK?
3. Sign up at SAFC.com for membership for everyone who is going with you (this is free I think?)
4. Decide before tickets go on sale which match you're going to and maximum price you're willing to pay
5. Have someone online the minute tickets go on sale. They need a membership number for everyone
So, if you've tried and failed, it's neither your lack of a UK address nor a lack of membership points - weekend games are basically a sell-out, so you have to be quick. I'm 'down-South' and I don't have membership points. I've seen a few away games, but have tried and failed to get home tickets this season. Finally, was organised and successfully got tickets for Brighton

The SOL and AOL are his legacy but the BOL demonstrates his love for his community was beyond football.
