As was mentioned on here, last week, it seems the plans for the South Stand expansion and other developments are moving along with agreements from the Council. It must be like a beehive at the club these days, so much going on in every aspect.
Good to see. Looks like the club snd council have sat down and sorted things. At this moment in time the council and club want the same things which is good to see.

I hope I'm not speaking out of turn but it appears the South Stand would have to be closed for a while.

I'm starting to forget what I've been told in confidence and what's common knowledge <doh>
The North stand wasn’t closed whilst the extension was done. Would the South and East be any different?
May depend on whether they are installing more executive boxes I suppose.

All I can say is that I was told the South Stand would need to close for a time.

The location of the away fans is being discussed as well although the club aren't too keen to move them now.

There was little disruption with the north stand expansion, apart from people occasionally getting wet when the roof was removed. Nobody complained and I think my maté kept the complimentary pancho!

There has been talk that the south stand extension maybe incorporated into one big home stand, similar to Spurs. If so possibly more disruption than the north stand which is perhaps what Smug is alluding too?

I’m sure David Bruce will be having good , positive input.

My main memory of the roof being off was Kevin Kilbane wheeling away in celebration after he’d scored in front of the North Stand (against Everton I think), with Milton Nunez trying to jump up onto his back. Except he was so short he couldn’t reach

I was in there when it opened, against Brazil kids if I remember right, on a sunny day outside the SOL but was cold inside!

Surely the East stand extension will go ahead at the same time.
I’m sure there would be a lot of cost savings doing at the same time but obviously will be costly.

I think it was just important getting the club and council singing together regarding the south stand and sheepfolds developments, which is now in place. Well done to the club and the council for sorting quickly and amicably.

As Smug says it could be very exciting….a quality job extending the south and east stands will give us one of the best football stadiums in Europe and more importantly give us a real opportunity to attract even more kids to the SOL and securing out fan base for decades to come.

Given the Keel Bridge, I think there is a real opportunity to make a real statement expansion as fans (and visitors) come across the bridge and view the SOL.
