£30k? Is that not a massive waste of money? Imagine if they raised all that and donated it to the soup kitchen instead....
I quite like the tifo's that we've had but I agree, especially that time of year the money could go to much better causes. The SAFC fans will make the atmosphere, we don't need a big display.

Actually, just project a big picture of the scummy ****ers celebrating on the pitch after beating a Championship Sunderland team in the FA Cup and watch the fans and players go... That'll not cost a lot <cool>

We haven't had a food collection in ages. Would a "Christmas treats" type collection be of interest? People could drop of things like selection boxes, mince pies, Christmas puds etc., to go in food parcels leading up to the big day. It would be nice if we could put a few fancy things on the tables of those who are struggling.

To be fair, Ellis Short had him shaking hands and handing out comp tickets. Interested to see if this new role pays him a bit more respect

I think going part time was probably more the problem.

Honest question, I know he is loved by fans and respected but is he qualified to do much that the club actually needs other than the above?

He won't be near the coaching, scouting youth set up surely?

No, this is an ambassadorial role - so he'll maybe do some matchday stuff, maybe be part of the team that welcomes new or prospective signings. There's loads he could and should be involved in that isn't related to coaching.

Probably not now, he's 61 in a few days and if I remember right he's had either a hip or knee replaced so probably at the stage of wanting/needing to take it easy in life. It doesn't mean he might not help out from time to time with younger players, but not day to day coaching.

The club ambassador role is ideal for him, certainly now. He was/is fully qualified as a coach and was involved in the academy for the best part of 20 years but I know that there was friction between him and Poyet, but he's been away from that for a while now, so you'd have to wonder if he really feels up to day to day coaching any more. The ambassador role done right, though, is a big deal. Not just match day meet and greet, but a lot of community work, commercial stuff, corporate and media work. Ballys association with us for that length of time and the fact he's always come across as down to Earth and eloquent when he speaks suits him really well right now.

Can we not just use the cat from the playoffs
