FWIW I think we could just evolve the 433, by having a false 9 instead of a pressing 9. So I'd stick with Ramsdale, **** knows why the manager brought Pope back. Then back four of Miley, Thiaw, Botman (got to keep going with him) and Hall (Burn's wandering and lack of mobility is a killer). Midfield trio of Tonali sitting, Bruno right, Ramsey left (so all in best positions). Then I'd look to have Nick as a false 9 and to offset this would put Osula right and Barnes left in the absence of Gordon.
Thinking is this - Osula/Barnes prefer to face goal and can stretch it. Bruno/Ramsey/Tonali have enough to cover the wings and it allows Nick to drop into the hole to look for those runners ahead of him. Elange can also do the Osula role. I'd maybe suggest Wissa would be better off coming off the left instead of through the middle (to be clear, if Wissa was sold tomorrow I'd pop the champers, but needs must for now). If it's not really working, there are options to change it back to the usual press (swap Nick for, say, Neave), go 4-4-2, even switch to 3 at the back with Burn alongside.
But that would be my preference. A week of training, getting Nick to sit in the hole and get the wide forwards to press on so it kind of evolves from 4-3-3 to 4-3-1-2. I just think we need to freshen it up, but not sure Howe has it in him sadly - I fully expect the same bollocky rubbish expecting everyone to run hard and fast, then like for like changes on 60 mins.
