Usmanov quoted saying he got into football because he thought football clubs would make profits. If he came here it might not work out if he was taking money out of the club. Alternatively, he may speculate to accumulate and everyone would be a winner. More likely he's not interested in us either way.
A serious investor would do just that, invest. They would speculate to accumulate, advance the brand whatever ................... they would not use it as a cheap way advertising a shop!! Any money invested in the playing staff, academy, training facilities or stadium is just seen as wasted money by Ashley. The only thing he will ever spend money on is more SD logos ..................... and i can see SD @ SJP coming back at some point too, especially if the latest wave of protests keeps going .................... the man is a spiteful ****er!!
It's a lovely thought that someone would be able to negotiate with Mike Ashley, but frankly, I don't believe for one moment that the fat man will ever sell NUFC. We are stuck with him until we get relegated (most likely next season) and we tumble down the Championship. #justsayin
The only possibility would be if we didn’t get promotion at first time of asking next time. Then if we really started to lose money I could see him selling but we would be screwed by then.
He will only sell if he feels that he is completely screwing over the person he is negotiating with ............................ and hugely successful people like Usmanov usually don't like that very much. It's a pissing contest for Ashley and it always will be.
In the end we made it look too easy last season. Mike thinks it's going to be simple staying up this year so he's just happy to do the minimum sit back and skim off.the profits so he can buy department stores.
Once we go into a tail-spin like Sunderland have, he will want rid. He has lied over and over again about the amount of money available to Rafa. Newcastle United finished 10th in the PL and received over £120,ooo,000 from the TV rights alone. The club made a profit of over £20,000,000 in the transfer window. Ashley is keeping the money and eventually NUFC will fall down the leagues. Once Rafa has gone, the fans stop coming and nobody is looking at his tacky Sports Direct adverts anymore, then he will buy Rangers or some other misfortunate club. I have never loathed anyone I have never actually met until Mike Ashley came along.
Nah, we'd have the cash to buy our way back out. Sunderland were in dire straits and were losing money hand over fist. It's unlikely we'll go into a tailspin the same way fortunately/unfortunately.
The money NUFC are creating is completely owned by Ashley. Did you not see him splash £90,000,000 buying House of Fraser? It's his club and his money, he's spending it on building his empire outside of football and NUFC is now proving to be an excellent cash-cow. He will simply milk it too hard and the club will tumble down into the lower leagues.
Sports Direct bought House of Fraser. Believe it will happen if you like but history suggests it would be different.
I would happily take TWO relegations if it meant Ashley was gone. What is the point in being in the Premier League if you make no effort to compete? It's never going to change while that fat bar-steward is strangling the life out of this club.
Any number of relegations would suit me. Then it's a case of enjoying each season as it happens. The Rothman's Full Strength Navy Cut Capstan Lung Clotting League is, I understand, good at this time of year.
For anyone out there thinking Cashley really is trying to sell NUFC link below to an interesting article by the Mag. Before the usual “they have a vendetta” claims get posted I’m not saying they’re right nor am I saying they’re wrong but consider Rangers as a cross reference point. If he was doing it to Rangers then why not us? Also anyone more inclined to check the historic accounts can it be shown what income comes from the Club Shop? Or is it just part of a bigger heading? Even so, how is that heading doing? https://www.themag.co.uk/2018/08/mu...e-united-and-why-he-wont-be-selling-reprised/
We don't know either way but it is a possibility that we get no money or very little from merchandising. It would be a scandal if we aren't. I think everyone needs to stop buying the shirts, etc. until this is clarified. No problem for me because I haven't bought anything from them for about 15 years. There are certainly benefits from having a relationship with SD where they are using their buying power, warehouses, logistics, POS systems and merchandising skills to minimise overheads and maximise profits for the club, but if the club isn't seeing the benefit then it's not on. The published accounts don't break the commercial income down into club shop, sponsorship, etc. as far I can remember so we can't see what income we have from them. All we know is that the club pays SD a fee each year but it's nothing like the income or even profit would be. I will say this: Ashley owns 100% of NUFC and only 61.7% of SD so he would kind of be giving away 38.3% of the profits from NUFC merch if he put it through SD. Mind you, I have always said the same about the pitch side advertising and we know that SD contribute nothing. Those 38.3% of shareholders get the best deal on that little arrangement.
Very interesting But only a few people would be able to understand the workings of Ashleys business empire or mindset
Even though I would love to think this the fact is it’s actually harder than you think to get money out of a company. If he wants money out it has to be dividends and that is taxed like hell at yhthe figures we aren’t talking. If he is investing the cash in business opportunities they are not his but Nufc assets. This the only way he can take money out is to clear his directors loan. Which max is 144 million. If he takes this out then the balance is ours. Gg
