Not a happy animal there- never looked comfortable either before the stalls or in the race. Retire her, owes noone anything. She also NEEDED soft ground based on all best form. That looks good ground to me.
Shame isn't it. Didn't really touch her. It was mainly hands and heels. Definitely not the same as last season.
She beat Baltic Baroness 18 lengths in the French Oaks last year on similar ground. Ground, muscles, excuses. Did not train on, think they have to admit it now. She hasnt shown the same purpose and that battle with CDA on heavy ground first time probably was the final nail in the coffin for her. Ectot could be the one.
I also wonder, I remember watching her last year and she was a nightmare to settle. She's only a dainty little thing and she won the Arc with the choke out last year. You can't be that keen and produce wonderhorse performances all the time. I think it took a lot out of her last year you know. Whatever it is, she isn't in the same form.
Reporting on RTE that young O'Brien carried a pound over weight last night. This just gets better and better for him, doesn't it!
Surely a pound equates to more than a neck though Cyc? Those handicapper chaps would certainly tell you it does. But, yeah, running widest round DEFINITELY cost him more than the length of a neck. Ah well that's life, he was beaten and we all seen why. He lives to fight another day and will be juicier price too. Good luck with Cursory Glance lads. You'll be glad to know my pennies aren't burdening the beast anyway.
As I said in earlier posts here and here , I doubt she as even 80% fit and she was definitely being looked after. Having watched that race, a fit Treve on softer ground would have won that race easily. Provided the ground wasn't too firm for her, that hasn't made a scrap of difference to her Arc chances. I would just wait to see how she has come out of the race. If Criquette is happy with her and she can get her fit (on soft ground) and the Arc turns up soft I wouldn't back against her. It's wait and see for me. I didn't expect her to be trying too hard today and she certainly wasn't.
Ruler did his job well enough today. That ought to be his style from now on- prominent tactics. Stays well when he quickens. Badly shuffled back when outpaced in midfield in last years Arc. Ectot easily the most impressive but the Japanese have sent nothing for the trial and I suspect any of theirs might be better than this lot.
Frankie must have a very large smile now...What a game this is. #Ruler Treve, Sea the Moon, Australia all beat in a week. Who'd have thought it. What looked a great Arc has fallen into pieces.
Bit of a farce in France- a sprint finish in a mile race means it is just simply unsatisfactory form. Toronado and Night Of Thunder will reverse that in any British mile race.
