Have to agree although I would change Saylor for O'Shea

Let's face it, both clubs love the rivalry. It's what makes football so special. There are local rivalries all over hte world of football.

If it was 'just' us against other teams, it would be goo, but a local rivalry is what makes being a football fan. Real banter.

Truth is, they need us and <gulp> we need them, to make it more fun.

I like friendly rivalry and banter - just not the idiots who take it too far or get aggressive.

Best post I have seen in a long time mate

Agree!

Being from a really mixed area of Co. Durham, its hard to be particularly partizan - most of my best mates are mackems. If I want to talk football with them, I have to talk NE football, but to be honest, I prefer it. Boro are like Smart Price ham, (a bit ****, but better than nout) and I do admire their youth development system, but the real rivalry is ours, and I miss it when its not there!

This really ! The season is better when both are in the premiership, and I like it when they give us some competition (as long as theydon't beat us of course)Also,I' m one of those people who used to go to Sunderlands games when I was a kid if Newcastle weren't playing so I do have a soft spot for them.
