Positives:
-Rusty very good both defensively and going forwards, great link up with Snodgrass, even if the final ball didn't quite come off.
-Snodgrass was the player from last season for the first 70 minutes. I think he tired later on, but his delivery was still there! Could see he had Hull scared as Bruce kept changing which defender was marking him, and they still both got booked.
-Johnson was superb in the centre of the park, his passing was much better than of late.
-RvW was very good, and unlucky not to score. His best game in yellow and green.
-Bar the final ball, a lot of the play was very good, moved the ball well and kept possession.
-I doubted Hughton's formation, but it generally worked.

Negatives
-Fer seems to be regressing, but I'm not sure if the formation is at fault there. In a 4-4-2 he can't push on so much as it leaves us open.
-Very reliant on Snodgrass as a creative outlet. Pilkington back should hopefully help balance things.
-Final ball still lacking, but Hull defended very, very well today. Lots of last ditch blocks and winning aerial duels. On another day that would have been comfortable.

Agree with moat of that apart from I though Johnson was pretty poor, won the ball a bit but gave it away as much, also could be a bit clumsy in the challenge. I would be very keen to see Tettey in the next time.

We also struggled with the exact same things that we have done previously, lots of play outside the penally area but not good at converting that into real chances, we huffed and puffed a lot but ultimately is took a defensive mistake and a slice of luck to get a goal.

Good result for you, well done Canaries! A big result. <ok>

How did Jonas play on his debut?

Quiet start, solid if unspectacular. I didn't notice him constantly wasting possession, but neither did he create a lot. It's nice to have him as an option, although I think Pilks will be first choice if he's fully fit.

Sure it took an error, but it wasn't a howler when they were comfortable, we put them under sustained pressure and forced the mistake. Hull defended well for the majority of the game, but we were also unlucky not to have taken a chance earlier too.

We do still need a bit more creativity in the centre of the park, and how we get that is a problem for Hughton. Whether it's a formation change, a new signing or simply a mentality change, at least a bit of pressure has been lifted.

SN 23 and KIO, do you not understand the use of smilies on the forum?

I think that has earned you one each of these!

<doh><doh>

It came across as a smug dig at those unhappy with current trends Dave<doh> I am not completely au fait with the emoticon protocol <whistle>on here still.

Just to point out that if you're using tapatalk on a mobile device you don't see the smilies just the code behind them. Some are obvious what they are from that others not so.

Just to throw my tuppence worth in

You have to hand it to Hughton, when he really needs a result, like really really needs one, he always seems to be able to pull one out of the hat!<ok><laugh>

Good on him<ok>

Happy with the result today and for the most part the performance but the crowd was as quiet as ever! Obviously when we scored there was a huge release of tension and joy and it was great for the last ten minutes. However there were long periods where you could be heard a pin drop! And booing for the substitution of RvW was out of order in my opinion.

Glad we finally got that goal. U was worried it'd be a repeat of Cardiff. I expect to see pilks starting against Newcastle, I think he just brings so much to the team with his movement and composure.

Was at the game today and I thought the crowd was MAGNIFICENT - they kept singing and cheering, just willing us to win. I'm not sure R Bennett will score a more vital goal to send the fans home happy.

Let's hope with the injured players coming back we can push on from here, especially when we go to Cardiff in 2 weeks time!!!! <cheers>

See my previous post

That wasn't aimed at you KIO, because you have usually backed your argument with reasoned discussion. I was thinking more of the Pink'un contributors who were hoping for a loss. It does get wearing sometimes though, when every thread is dominated by opinions about CH. It's much better when we talk about football and the team we all support!
