The last 10 minutes I was fearing it would finish nil nil, but what a relief getting that win. Hull I think were playing for a draw, but I thought our performance was good for that win. Happy for CH too, under immense pressure.
What a crass comment Dave, I and many like me might not be Hughton's biggest fans to say the least but I always want my team to win. OTBC CTI
His post was obviously aimed at the people who wanted us to lose so CH get the sack, no one on here. Dave's post made me laugh anyway.
Worse still i bought a job lot of short rope yesterday, hoping to flog to you guys. Now im going to hold off until next week!
Yes, for a couple of years it felt like almost every Saturday was a good one. But lately they've been rare. So I'm just going to relish this one.
Positives: -Rusty very good both defensively and going forwards, great link up with Snodgrass, even if the final ball didn't quite come off. -Snodgrass was the player from last season for the first 70 minutes. I think he tired later on, but his delivery was still there! Could see he had Hull scared as Bruce kept changing which defender was marking him, and they still both got booked. -Johnson was superb in the centre of the park, his passing was much better than of late. -RvW was very good, and unlucky not to score. His best game in yellow and green. -Bar the final ball, a lot of the play was very good, moved the ball well and kept possession. -I doubted Hughton's formation, but it generally worked. Negatives -Fer seems to be regressing, but I'm not sure if the formation is at fault there. In a 4-4-2 he can't push on so much as it leaves us open. -Very reliant on Snodgrass as a creative outlet. Pilkington back should hopefully help balance things. -Final ball still lacking, but Hull defended very, very well today. Lots of last ditch blocks and winning aerial duels. On another day that would have been comfortable.
Nah we are a happy bunch mostly, anyway boys its another 8/10 weeks till you get your next one so you better enjoy.
Well done lads, we were ****ing horrific and 100% deserved to lose, probably by 2 or 3. My only gripe is the Huddlestone second yellow, which was never a booking in my opinion. But in the grand scheme of things it doesn't truly matter as he will only miss our cup game against Southend which he was never going to play in anyways.
Yeah, didn't think there was a lot in the second yellow, although I'm not sure if it was more cumulative for a couple of other fouls. We'd quite like you to beat Palace too, so glad it shouldn't rule him out!
My stream showed it from two angles. From one it looked pretty bad, and I assume this is what the ref saw. From the other it looked like an innocuous example of two players straining to get to the same ball. I agree with you, it wasn't a bookable offence. Glad it'll only affect a game where he wouldn't have played anyway.
Shouldn't of been a second yellow but the ref was giving yellows for almost anything in what was not a dirty game.
No, the game was played in a really good spirit today, and the ref did keep it flowing well. Whether the bookings were just to keep on top of things, I don't know.
