I couldn't give a **** who it is to be honest, its just plain wrong and should not be happening. I don't care if its Nike or Tampax truth be told

I dont like the name change either but lets be honest its still St James Park whichever way you cut the butter. If we get say Nike then it wont be so bad and the extra 10 million plus a season will be good for the club also.

Come on the club needs the money to develop and I dont understand what the big fuss is. We have to move on from this. Its quite possible a sponsor will come in and keep it as it is. Or even "Nike sponsors St James Park"

Its still crap but its a 10% increase in turnover.

Must admit I don't care about the money, its about heritage and tradition. I can't put a price on some things, and find the barbaric selling of the soul of football in this country depressing. Massive no from but I won't get upset because I was not surprised. 10m ain't going to see us challenging the top clubs as slimy Derek suggests though. The club is not desperate for money, I'm sick of hearing this ****e. This is about a guy who would sell his mother if the price was right. He basically has no respect for the club history, and everything must go. Everyone to their own but I could never embrace this unbelievably poor decision.

Football's soul has been on the way out since 1992. I don't like it but its the way it is.

With regards to the potential of Nike, would they manufacture the shirts aswell? Can't imagine Puma being too chuffed if they had to stick big a big Nike sponsor on their shirts.

What I'm always interested in is whether our fans would be willing to change the team colours to red and blue, or change the team name to Sports Direct Newcastle United or Sports Direct United? Its the same thing afterall. Why stop there, lets exploit all the untapped revenue streams. Don't think it can't happen either because it has already elsewhere with FC Red Bull Salzburg. So where does the greed end and footballing tradition begin!

I don't think any fan would stand for that. But at the end of the day what could we do if the powers that be decided that was what they wanted? Nothing. We're over a barrel on this one and as soon as one big-ish club does that you can bet many will follow in a domino effect.

For sure we are. To be honest I fully expect our owners to go down this route. I'll just continue to support the team and wait for the day he leaves. Problem is that anyone new owner coming in will struggle to reclaim history because the club will be relying on these additional revenue streams by then. Sickens me that someone can have so little respect for the clubs heritage, but as you say they can do as they please. I can't pretend though, I'm ashamed that some of supporters think this is a good idea, and others put forward what a great job they're doing as some sort of justification. I would not swap our heritage for a league title or CL trophy. So doing it to make no progress whatsoever is galling.

THe clubs heritage will still be there, that cant be taken away though. In 30 years if we've had the same stadium name that will be part of the heritage....look to wthe future...better having a heritage you don't like the name of so much than none

This is the modern game now. We can't do anything about it and if it is good for the club where is the harm?
It will always be St James to us so where is the problem? If it gets us extra money in then good.

Times have moved on i'm afraid and this is one way in which we can reach the top 7 again whether people like it or not.

Totally agree with you Lewis Hamilton , I listen to talk sport all day in the car and from listening to other fans phone in about the supposed "every geordie" going mad about the name change, it's embarrassing

I hate this idea that because it's where the game is going and because there's nothing we can do about it we should be fine with it. Well, I know I'm not.

Fact is the profit will go into fat mikes back pocket not the club

I'm not saying you should be fine with it, i'm saying whether people like it or not it will happen. I'm not in favour of it completely but if it helps us compete for top 6/7 then it's good.
