Simon Grayson, the bookies fav at the moment

Steve McLaren won't be heading to City, if Atkins knocked it back then McLaren won't be coming in on meagre wages and a couple of quid to spend on players from Aldi out of date, bargain shelf. Managers will have looked at the track record of the Allams, word of mouth spreads quickly round the manager's union.
The only managers/coaches looking at the City vacancy will be managers who are desperate to get back into football. Any coach coming here will realise he is walking into a relegation battle from day 1. Players will be going out of the club, Ehab has installed a turnstile at the main reception to help ease the exit queues. Players will be onto their agents today - find me another club asap.

Marketing team will be in despair, how do you sell memberships, shirts, hospitality etc on the back of this.

Give it a week or so and Nigel will be at another ground holding up the club's scarf and kissing the badge.
A clusterfuck of a summer once again.
Looking back, the falling out with Steve Bruce is proving very, very costly.
Similar Adkins hasn't come to this decision over night and it's also strange the club didn't announce his leaving.
He was first offered another contact back in March and at least two more improved ones have been on the table yet he's waited to the middle of June before going to the press and giving them his decision ?
Sounds as though he's been waiting for confirmation of another job before throwing the towel in with us ?
Shoddy from both sides, this should have been tied up months ago.
Someone will have received a phone call over the week end saying the jobs yours if you want it. Looks like NA has already had his.

I don't see why this was shoddy from Adkins. He was looking after himself like we all would.

Like a lot of people on here, I thought Adkins was an uninspiring and lacklustre appointment following his stints at Reading and Sheff U. I'm happy he's proven me wrong, emphatically.

I hope he's quick to find another job with decent owners.

'THE ONLY MANAGERS/COACHES LOOKING AT THE CITY VACANCY WILL BE MANAGERS WHO ARE DESPERATE TO GET BACK IN FOOTBALL'
Isn't that exactly how Nigel Adkins became our manager in the first place ?

If he knew he was leaving why didn't he leave after the last game of the season ?
If he didn't fancy the offer that was on the table he could have walked weeks ago.
Why do you think he's waited so long ?

He was probably hopeful that the owners would offer a deal that would allow him the opportunity to match or better last seasons 13th place. As they are asset stripping and not reinvesting, where is the incentive to stay? We are unquestionably looking at the bottom 3 next season. Why after performing miracles this season would any self respecting manager want a relegation on his CV? His stock is high and he’ll walk into another job.

Adkins had been working for City as a consultant prior to his appointment as Head coach.

Who said he got two improved offers?

I guess he didn't care about the end of contract bonus
