I was merely reacting to a post from another forum which one of our esteemed and respected members saw fit to re-post on here. It’s noted that MY comment received the smack down reply, rather than the original post. it seems that for some on here it’s perfectly acceptable to write or highlight negative comments about LJ on here, but as soon as anyone posts anything in defence of him it’s unacceptable, wrong and we should all have moved on. As long as there are people continuing to post on that subject with a particular spin and personal bias then I will continue point out and highlight that bias. I’m happy that we at last have a manager that most of us are getting behind, but LJ will continue to be debated for many years to come - particularly if he’s successful at Sunderland because people harbour very strong views on him.
he did his job up to a point ...covid .. hindsight will never allow us to know a different outcome … it screwed up a lot of things … including peoples minds … maybe we will get a chance to see Lee next season City v Sunderland ...and I do not think we will be relegated ..
I'm the member that put the post up, quite happy to own it, it made me smile, I thought I would share it, LJ's little band of angels get so offended, Cotterill, GJ and the great AD achieved honours and promotions for us, they gave me some great years, the other achieved zilch, just a bit of humour.
Only an achievement peculiar to BCFC and I for one will always be thankful for that achievement. But do you know what the real difference is and will be? The players actually respect Pearson, whereas given many performances in the last 2 years of LJ's reign and the whole of Holden's short reign many of the players that LJ brought in did not respect him or Holden and their lack of consistency and at times lack of effort cost both of them their jobs. If these same players suddenly find consistency under Pearson then there can only be one of two reasons, 1) Better coached or 2) lack of effort. Maybe you should focus your attention more on the players who got LJ sacked than the few on here who never liked him because that is the reality.
Do you know for certain that the players didn't have respect for him.......or just guessing by some performances, or making it up as you go along?? I can't remember any games thinking LJ had lost the players respect.......under performing is not losing respect..
Any point has many sides and attracts many differing opinions .. that's always been and will always be the way. Its like winners and losers some winners get euphoric, others less so.. but all love to be winners, whilst some don't and are … Losers, who are either acceptee's they are defeated or are sour/bitter .. growing up I bet we have all played games ….board , physical etc and one person [ or more! ] have been ragged as sour losers … its a fact of life. BCFC was the only winner in LJ'S reign, and we are where we are in many aspects due to his input. Yes he has gone been replaced by someone that didnt managed what LJ achieved and in turn was replaced by "our Nige" who so is 2 WINS and 2 LOSSES ….. with the rest of the season ahead of him, and BCFC and us …. I thought LJ brought a breath of fresh air new methodology but got lost in the chaos of selling from under him and the covid outbreak, sad to see him go but … DH, was all for him and continuity and looked like was right... but somehow amid the mass of injuries he lost it. I always look to the wider picture, and NP is the backwash of the new canvass ….
I saw a lot of games where many players looked as though they were not playing for him Nobody was sold from under him, LJ, Holden and the pantomime villain Ashton have all publicly stated that the manager/head coach had the final say on all transfers, so that would mean that they were all lying.
Seem to be playing ok for him at Sunderland, 1st trophy in 50 years.. bet old RP had a few quid on his mate https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56373623
If LJ gets Sunderland promoted that would make him as good as Cotts. ooopps - bad Llama R&W. 20 Hail Marys.
Five promotions As a manager Cotterill has taken charge of nearly 700 matches and can boast no relegations for any of his teams and five promotions. He has been named League One Manager of the Year, Conference Manager of the Year and has received the Manager Special Achievement of the Year Award. https://mn2s.com/booking-agency/talent-roster/steve-cotterill/
I am sure that when this trophy is brought up on this forum about Cotterill's reign, it was described by more than one person as a **** trophy/Mickey Mouse trophy. But congrats to LJ and now he has a proper achievement that he can put on his Wiki page.
IMO it is a Mickey Mouse trophy, but thought I would bring it up because had he lost it, the haters would have been all over it..
Which lover said, 'I didn't even know they were playing today'. I did and a lot better for it. Now for the double. Lovely jubbly.
I’m pretty sure all City fans are grateful to SC for getting us promoted to the Championship, but your obsession with a guy who has only got non-league and 3rd division awards and honours is bizzare!
and the other side of the coin by the Steve Cotterill luvees is that this was some great trophy that marks out a great manager. Funny how without saying it, you always highlight the negative view of LJ
