WBA released two left backs. Him and Joe Mattock.

Nicky Shorey scored for us last season when we played West Brom in the Carling cup. He sliced Gallys cross in his own net

doesnt have much pace though, i though Nige liked pacey full-backs. But then again i think he would want a good LB over a quick one (ala Berner)

I think the only reason why Nigel would considering getting rid of Konchesky is the wages. I bet he is on about 20K a week.

Good, solid LB, didn't he get a couple of caps for England a few years back? However, I really hope this isn't because Konchesky's going, who I really rate as a player. However, I can't imagine Shorey coming if as back-up.

I wanted us to sign Nicky Shorey when we were in the Premier League, I've rated him since he was at Reading.

I also went to both England games he played in, he was particularly good against Brazil.

So was ours back then

Morrison, Hobbs, Brown and Berner was solid.

We have moved on. Im not convinced with Wilson. I wouldnt mind Chambers for competetion but is he any better then St. Ledger.

Their back four was possibly the best in the league the year they came 3rd behind Newcastle and WBA.

Heve to admit I've never been particularly enamoured with Konchesky ... can't fault his passion and commitment ... but unfortunately he gets turned inside-out by quality and also has the intelligence of an earwig ... leaving him prone to making rash challenges when there is no immediate need ... gives away needless penalties and free kicks due to very poor judgement and the inability to control his agression ... didn't take very long for Liverpool to work him out.

At the start of the season I wasn't sure about Konchesky but as the season has gone on he has looked better and better. I hope he stays and like already mentioned I can't see Shorey coming in as back up or to fight for a shirt

Go for Mattock instead then? Incidentally, looking at that WBA released list, anyone think Somen Tchoyi could be an option for the wing/attacking midfield? Strong, quick, scores goals, would be a good acquisition at this level IMO.

Konch is quality and possibly the most consistent player we've had here for years.

Would be sad to see him leave, although I do think Shorey is an inspired replacement. Quality left back at this level on a free.
