The Blues are desperate to lift trophy as they did at Wembley in 2014
Manchester City's League Cup quarter-final with Hull has added to a gruelling fixture pile-up which could define the Blues' season.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men cruised into the last eight of the competition, which they won in 2014, with the 5-1 thumping of Crystal Palace.

And their reward was a home-tie with Championship side Hull, who currently sit second in the second tier, which has been now been pencilled in for Tuesday December 1, kicking-off at 7:45pm.

City only managed a 1-1 draw when they last met Steve Bruce's men at the Etihad

It won’t be shown live on TV, with the broadcasters instead showing Middlesbrough against Everton the same night and Southampton’s match with Liverpool on the following the day.

But, more importantly for the Blues, the scheduling means they will now play six times in the space of just 17 days, BEFORE the hectic festive period kicks in.

The gruelling run will begin with a home game against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Saturday tea-time on November 21 and the following Wednesday they face Italian Champions Juventus in Turin in the Champions League.

Then they have just three days until Southampton visit the Eithad on Saturday November 28 before Steve Bruce’s men arrive for the cup clash on the Tuesday.

Couldn't be worse, but you never know not impossible.

Actually John,, IMO it could have been worse. Stoke City or Southampton away for me would have been worse.

Manchester City is tough I know John, but we can take heart from our performance against them back in February @ the Etihad when we were screwed
out of a deserved win @ the death.

Man City have a tough November period and they may well think that they are already in the semi finals. This is a great away fixture for me
as it has turned out,.

If we are going to win this Cup then we might as well get rid of the team everyone thinks will win it in the qtrs. <laugh>

Middlesboro home and away in semi finals will be perfect. <laugh>

The draw for the quarter-finals is coming up shortly. Craig has jumped the gun.

Looking at the quarter final draw...gotta wish for: Everton vs Liverpool;Man Utd vs Man City; Sheff Weds vs Hull as local derbies leaving Stoke vs Southampton for the Red and white kit off...? Dream draw.

Craig in Nottingham. A depressed Newcastle fan.
