What about Ernesto Valverde? Turns out did a canny job at Barca under a difficult regime with a club in decline. Very experienced and out of work.
My mate actually wants Koeman. I pointed to his suspect record. He said “aye but you seen his record over his first 8 games at most clubs”. I don’t actually know how good it is but I still don’t want Koeman. For all 7 months of someone simply tasked with survival is ok with me.

If it's true, it's concerning of course. But I remain sceptical at this stage because:
- The suggestion that Staveley, who has three times tried to buy a football club and has had two years on the side-lines waiting for NUFC, not to mention has been given £300m of cash from PIF, somehow DOESN'T have a plan is utterly ****ing ridiculous, and to be honest just mean and spiteful.
- The timeline as suggested by @magdad doesn't make any sense either, that the first thing people are doing at 10pm is chatting to mates who know Balague, when Balague didn't even mention Newcastle's interest til AFTER ****ing Craig Hope did.
- Football managers go where the ****ing work is. Did Rafa want to go to China, or was £12m worth it? Does Jose enjoy flitting around Europe (he might, to be fair). Emery himself went to Moscow. They do it all the time, this "oooh, my family doesn't want to go" - convenient how these stories never come up for Manchester, which is about 2 hours away. 30 mins by chopper, it they desperately want to take a trip to the Trafford Centre instead of Metro Centre.
- I also don't believe the other names Balague has claimed rejected us; Xavi? ****ing seriously? One job in Qatar and he's top of the list? Yogi "Finger Sniffing" Low? With no real club success? Would he really be top 3? We may have been rejected by Conte, by Ten Hag, and other real decent names, but I think this Spanish asshole has a beef with Newcastle - possibly due to treatment of Benitez - but he's either being deliberately obtuse or taking the piss.
We gotta get used to this and - can't believe I'm saying this - sit tight and wait for facts to emerge. I'm still optimistic Emery will join. I'll be deeply disappointed if it's Howe - but I'd have been deeply disappointed with Howe before I heard of Emery, because he's a one trick pony, got relegated and would've joined an Ashley-owned Newcastle let alone one with new ambitions. It may all be smoke and mirrors anyway. I do think we desperately need someone in place, and a statement from the owners about the vision and plan to shut these haters down, mind. Hope today sees more light come forward.

To be fair, Emery was 1/10 on, I think we were entitled to get carried away. He's drifted this morning, of course, but not everywhere.
As I've said, I'll be quite bitterly disappointed if it's Howe.
What I would also say is Emery isn't even ****ing married so I'm dying to see where this story of his family don't want him to go has come from.
Everyone has a family brothers maybe? Parents?

I believe he has an older son and a gf he's been with for 20 years that he's played away from when at Arsenal. As for brothers, sisters, parents etc I have no clue but pretty sure anyone's family would be "go where the money is, it's 2 and a half hours away."
May be wrong but as I say. match finished 10pm spanish time. Press conference was 10.30ishpm. Earliest he spoke to Villareak owners would have been about 11pm.
So going by timelines here I'm guessing by the time he was home and spoke to family earliest he could have picked up phone to Ballague was sometime after midnight.
I'm just doubting this as he was all positive about the prospect at the presser.
I think Ballegue is close to Rafa and got stories but I'm doubting he has the same relationship with every Spanish manager. For all we know he could be the Spanish Luke Edwards.
I do wonder where the stories come from,read yesterday he was taking training tomorrow,he probably is but not at Newcastle!I did think something was up when he was at that game last night,if they were bottom of their group and had no chance it would be understandable,saying goodbye etc

The thing is I can understand the story. There's issues surrounding sponsorship, money availability and they won't have any tenders regarding facilities.
The rest is as you'd expect after a big win ie the players saying don't leave is gaf
