I like the idea that we were going after someone of Emery's stature and almost had him on the hook. I'm taking that as a good sign to be honest.

Yeah except we pretty much know it didn't because Emery has told us as much. So once again there is no real requirement for your fairytales.

Depends how you look at Bournemouth being relegated under him.

He did guide them from league 2 to the premier league. His win percentage as a manger has been about 40-50%.

I genuinely hoped that over a decade of managerial disappointment and atrocious hiring under Ashley a thing of the past.

I can almost hear Eddie Howe's first words...."look, I might not be everyone's cup of tea, but as long as we roll our sleeves up I'm sure we can get a result. Let's not underestimate Brighton who are magnificent and make us look awful, how I wish I had just some of their talent, and Graham Potter can pump me any day of the week. We are where we are."

See the problem I have is how thick owners are, including potentially our new ones.

Moshiri thought "I know what would go down well - hiring a Liverpool legend as manager. That won't come with any problems at all".

Spurs and Nuno, really bad fit.

Now youve got our owners who sacked a Tim-nice-but-dim type, left his assistants, have faffed around and then appoint a Tim-nice-but-dim type. The issue is ****ing obvious - whereas a bigger name or more glamorous appointment will get all the time in the World - see Rafa/relegation - Howe will literally have the Brentford game and if he doesn't win it, everyone's going to be on his back. I'm still hoping to be surprised, because surely even a total ignoramus can see that Howe's a terrible appointment.

    It's another defeat isn't it.

I think I said I'd accepted relegation after wolves and unfortunately our takeover has come a few months too late.

We might aswel jus accept it and accept Howe who can come in and lead a promotion charge if he fails to keep us up.

Mate, we could have got relegated, appointed Howe and been dogshit every week under Ashley.

He didn't accept a promotion charge with Bournemouth twice when asked.

He failed to get the Crystal Palace job and made too many demands for the Celtic job. Wasn't even interviewed for Everton or Spurs despite people thinking he was at that level.
