Well respected by all the fans at the clubs he has had....A proper fans manager who will confront owners on their behalf. Topman our loss...
Lets not ignore the facts shall we......Laudcrap had his chances but failed as we were falling fast to certain relegation, Check yourselves. The board were running out of time and decided he must be replaced and as Monk had most of his badges they put him incharge and the rest is history. His first game was against our biggest rivals Cardiff and we wallopped them 3-0 and now we had the Swansea way back Monk got us to safety with room to spare.....He was rightly installed as manager and the players were happy and responded with our best ever season and to say it was boring is a cop out as losing all the time was boring......Then our leaders fcuked up our season with sending Dyer to Leicester without telling monk because one of our owners was screwing dyer's wife.......Monk was a proper players and fans manager and he confronted the owners and board on what was going on and why was he not informed and a hell of a row was had that they had to sack him and as a bribe they gave him £2m to keep quiet......Monk and Dyer were in regular contact and what was agreed by them was their business. Monk was a brilliant captain and an even better manager as he wont take things lying down if owners dont play ball to improve the club he wants to know why. He left Leeds and now Brum after improving both sides and that is endorsed by the fans of both clubs. Monk is a legend at the club and we have a lot of thanks he is owed for saving our club and standing up for fans at 3 different clubs....Topman....
This thread isn't about your love child so please stay on topic or start a thread of your own. its's becoming ****ing tedious
Gary Monk current 2nd favourite to get Newcastle job, bet their fans are really really really excited at that prospect. https://www.oddschecker.com/football/manager-specials/newcastle-utd/next-permanent-manager
What is it with the merry-go-round of dismal managers? Better the bang average plodder (at best) you know rather than any ambition.
To be fair, you can't be accused of picking a bang average plodder. Most of your managers of the last 10 years or so have been adventurous.
A good appointment to the back room staffhttps://www.swanseacity.com/news/martyn-margetson-becomes-swans-goalkeeping-coach ...and it looks like he’s bringing some more from the England set up https://www.swanseacity.com/news/david-tivey-joins-swansea-city-coaching-staff
I think we'll do ok this season , perhaps not tearing up the league but steady progress and a reduction in the overheads
Margetson was a decent coach I seem to recall. Left us to join big Sam in the England set up. Has some good experience, should be a good addition. It will do Cooper good to have some experienced heads to support him.
I wish I had your optimism. We haven't finished selling our players yet, Crystal Palace are about to get £50 million from Man Utd and were reported to be interested in Conor Roberts. On a side note, 50 million for Wan Bissaka, 15 million for Dan James. We sold him on the cheap.
£15m is an outstanding amount of money for James and he was not Swansea's best player.....He has one season under his belt ffs. When Man Utd are paying £100,000 + to their players then James is well down the pecking order....I hope he gets his chance in F A cup and league cup whatever they call it these days and does well but as for the first team then he has a lot of learning to do yet....Good player so far but i would not say he is Brilliant by any stretch of the imagination....
We always have been and always will be selling a Club , thats the nature of the beast .IMO I thought 15 million was a good price for a player who wanted away and to compare Bissaka v James you have to ask if he's well over priced . C Roberts I thought had stagnated in terms of development in fact last season I thought he went backwards , playing it safe with little confidence in overlapping and being creative in the opposition half , imo it was like having two Kyle Naughtons on the pitch so I doubt Utd would be interested unless of course Giggs is acting s a scout
Dragon it is self inflicted. We were acting as if we were one of the bigger clubs and it backfired....We were paying far too much wages to players that were not worth it and in the end they did not try or even care apart from the wages they were on. The final nail in the coffin was relegation and they wanted to leave like a rat up a drainpipe and the club had no choice but to let them go even though some were still on a contract.....There is no gain blaming anyone now as it is done and Jenkins was deservedly sacked from being charman and now it is all about building the club back up from scratch and we have had a better start than was first anticipated thanks to Potter the rat. But we will get there in the end i'm sure of it...It will take time with careful running and planning of the club and our chairman was brought in to do just that and in my view in the way the chairman talks i think we could be ahead of schedule.....
All our players can be sold if the price is right and that's how it is....We have always been a selling club anyway just like the vast majority of the other clubs.....
Is he good enough for them probably yes if he can show the same level of ability as he did in our last season in the PL then why not .I'm not condoning the selling of any of our players but an acceptance of how it is I'm afraid
